Fine for a Cheap Hotel

I was traveling to Cookeville to visit my boyfriend, so I really only needed a hotel room to sleep and shower. I reserved a non-smoking room with 1 King-size bed. The room was pretty spacious and comfortable. The bathroom looked clean and the bed was comfortable. The only problem was when I opened the door, I immediately noticed a cigarrette smell. I propped the door open for a few minutes and that seemed to help. Overall, It was pretty good for the amount I paid.

Good enough for me

This is definitely not fit for nobility, but for a regular family on a budget, this is great for the price. Kids had fun in the pool, room was kind of out-dated, but there was no dirt, roaches or mold. I would stay here again even if I got a pay-raise. Great deal!

Worst stay ever

Was in town for a funeral. Room was dirty and smelled awful, like human urine. All the maid did was take out trash and toss 2 towels in the bathroom. Office absolutely reeked of stale curry and grease. In room, wallpaper was peeling off the wall in sheets. Exhaust fan in bathroom was exposed with wires hanging and rusty. I could go on. Never again.

Low price but still not worth my money

I don't mind cheap hotels, but this one was awful. The carpet hasn't been replaced in 30 years, the wallpaper is peeling and stained, you are given just one bar of soap and no shampoo or conditioner, and the staff at check in was very impersonable. It's cheap but I still didn't get my money's worth.

Sightseeing tip: Short drive from hotel

Visit Burgess Falls State Park. It's a 15 minute drive to get there and the park/waterfalls are just beautiful. The hike is short (1.5 miles roundtrip) and moderately easy. You can do it all in one hour. Don't skip the ridgetop trail on the way back, with great vistas and just a small extra distance. Go in late October for peak autumn colors.

Only as a last resort

Not very clean, bathroom was a mess. Stale cereal and pastries for breakfats. Restaurant next door is out of business. Cheap, but you get what you pay for.
