OK in a pinch

I usually stay in other hotels, but I found my usual spaces booked when I had to make a last-minute trip to Cookeville. It's OK for what it is - a cheap place to stay maybe one half-step up from the "motor inn" kind of place. Odd smell upon entering the hotel, but the room itself was fine, if a bit shabby, and decor fairly cheap/outdated. (I usually barely notice such things, so it was bad enough for me to take note.) The mattress was much too soft, the pillows virtually useless. But...for the price, I got pretty much what I expected. The location is on the edge of Cookeville, so it's not the most convenient. But since the next place that would have been better was 30 minutes away, it was OK to stay for a couple of days. It's not in my top choices for my next trip, though.

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

Crawdaddies is a good place for a meal. Don't get there too late, though, or you'll be waiting for a table.
