Minutes from Main Street, a convenient crash pad for the Rushmore-bound
Fancy? No. Convenient? Yes. The Super 8 Rapid City Rushmore Road lies within walking distance of restaurants like Ruby Tuesdays and Perkins, and hub of shops and eateries in downtown is a short drive away. The signature attractions of the region -- Mount Rushmore National Memorial, Bear Butte State Park, Historic Deadwood -- are all easy day trips from here, and guests can fuel up on the free continental breakfasts (cereal, donuts, English muffins) before setting out. All rooms come with free Wi-Fi, and some feature microwaves and refrigerators, too.
Highlights
  • About 20 miles from Mount Rushmore National Memorial
  • Free continental breakfast
  • Free Wi-Fi in every room

Rooms

Guests can also expect expanded cable television (HBO, ESPN, Fox News, Disney) and free local phone calls. The Super 8 Rapid City Rushmore Road also has four suites with coffee-makers, microwaves and refrigerators.
Features
The Super 8 Rapid City Rushmore Road puts out a free continental breakfast spread each morning (think cereals and donuts, toast and English muffins). Guests can use the on-site laundry facilities (coin-operated). The Super 8 Rapid City Rushmore Road offers free parking to guests and its lot can accommodate trucks and buses.

good value for the price

I choose the hotel for the price. I had enough rest, just basic in the room – no fridge, no skin lotion or hair conditioner, but I had coffee maker, breakfast was standard – toasts, donuts, cereal and apple, one day English muffins, but not the following days. It is a good location for traveling to Keywood and Mount Rushmore.

bottom feeder

Relegated to smoking room, nearly needed nicotine patch to recover, used fans all night to no avail. Staff made it clear to us that because we booked on-line, the garden level smoker's hell was all we got. Also, despite claims in posting, the wifi does not work in the smoker's hell building, staff at desk confirmed this is known to them. In retrospect sleeping in the car may have been better. I was stationed at Ellsworth AFB two years and yearned for the barracks! Also avoid Smiley's a sports bar wanna-be just a short walk away.

An Unpleasant Experience

The room was small, towels were old and ragged, shower curtain was unclean, breakfast room was too small for the number of tables and chairs. I will not stay at this hotel again. This hotel gives a bad impression of Super 8 Motels.

Convenient location for Mt. Rushmore

Convenient location for getting to Mt. Rushmore and near to Interstate 90 for travel to other sites including Deadwood, Spearfish (Spearfish Canyon was fantastic!),and Sturgis. On our way to Rapid City we stopped at Badlands National Park and Wall Drug. Hotel staff were accomodating when we needed to extend our stay for one additional night. Continental breakfast was better than most that we have experienced at other hotels. Within easy walking distance to other restaurants. The only real negative was the housekeeping. It was rather slow in getting our room cleaned up each day and one day they forgot to give us new towels. This was taken care of simply by contacting them.

Sightseeing tip: Short drive from hotel

Take the time to drive through Spearfish Canyon for a breathtaking experience, but it wasn't a short drive. Altogether we probably drove close to one hundred miles but it was definitely worth it. In going there you also will be able to visit Lead, Deadwood, and Sturgis easily.
