Pool Burn
Itchy Nov 22, 2009
Brought my family on a business trip so they could enjoy the indoor waterpark. The two younger ones got itchy, red, bumpy ... rashes from the pool. My wife and daughter faces looked like they had been sunburned after swimming. The youngest's bathing suit lost all its color. The park was fun but not worth the burns.

This hotel is ideal for a family vaca, especially if you wanna hit the indoor waterpark. As a single traveler all I wanted ... was a nice and quiet room to sleep in b4 my long drive the next day...let's just say that didn't happen. The room was really nice with high ceilings and quite clean but the sounds of kids and slamming doors lasted well until 1 am and started up again around 7am. Check out wasn't until 11am but evidence that the maid had started her rounds began at 9am and it was plain annoying. The 1 staff that worked the counter was crazy over-worked with customers leaving a line to join for those who wish to know the number to a local pizza place. It really was a nice place to stay...just not by yourself.

Great Place to Stay
RetiredAndLovingIt Oct 25, 2009
We stayed two nights while visiting Mt. Rushmore on our way from Washington to Nebraska. We got a great rate - just over $50 ... per night for two of us. The property is just off the freeway and very easy to get to. The room was very comfortable and the staff was helpful and friendly. The continental breakfast was better than most, with hot waffles, several types of breads and pastries, boiled eggs, assorted fruits and juices. There is a large video arcade if you're traveling with kids. The only negative aspect (which didn't affect us because we rarely use the pool at motels anyway) is that there is an extra fee to use the pool at the attached waterpark.

Relaxing Place to Stay
Bay Area Traveler Oct 22, 2009
This was a great place to stay. Very close to Mt. Rushmore, Badlands, Needles Hwy and a longer drive to Devil's Tower in ... Wyoming. The room was very clean and the hotel was nice enough to upgrade me to a king size bed instead of the 2 queens I had reserved. My only complaint is that there is a strong odor of chlorine in the lobby from the attached waterpark next door. The smell did not go into the rooms. The bathroom made a few weird noises, but quit after a short time. Very friendly staff.

JBN May 28, 2009
Staff was very friendly and the hotel itself is in a very convenient location but rooms leave something to be desired. ... Inasmuch as this is a waterpark hotel, there were lots of kids(and adults) running around and being noisy. There were also several dogs on our floor who occassionally barked. If you want a quieter hotel after a day of sightseeing in the area, you best look elsewhere.

Excellent Value
Susan Oct 17, 2008
The LaQuinta in Rapid City is a new facility located right off Interstate 90 in a very convenient location. The room was ... very nice with a desk, internet access, chair and plenty of room around the beds. Bathroom facilities looked new and clean. There is no restaurant in the facility, but there are good restaurants close by the names of which the staff were very willing to share with us. This was without a doubt the best quality hotel for the price of any that we have stayed in recently. I will definitely seek out a LaQuinta Inn on my next trip.

The La Quinta Inn in Rapid City was a pleasant surprise. The personnel at the front desk were very helpful and friendly. ... Our room with two queen beds was large and well-furnished and very clean. The mattresses could not have been more comfortable in our opinion. A continental breakfast complete with waffles and the daily newspaper was a great way to start the day.

pleasant , but short stay
Catherine Sep 5, 2008
My son and I stayed at the La Quinta overnight arriving in very late from the airport. Enroute from the airport I became ... quite lost (Rapid City has rather poor road signage) The staff were very helpful and patient with me as I had to call several times on the road for fresh directions. When we arrived they were glad to see us and check in took only a moment, then we were off to our nice comfy pillowtop beds uptairs. In the morning, we had the best (and the busiest) hotel continental breakfast that I've ever seen of it's kind. There was the option of making fresh waffles, as well as all kinds of other choices to suit different tastes. My son loved his waffle and doughnut, and I had a yogurt, a couple of hard boiled eggs and fruit, as well as juice and coffee. Two ladies were there the whole time doing nothing but passionately refilling, clearing, cleaning and chatting warmly with the guests. We felt more like customers in a family restaurant than people taking advantage of a complimentary service in a large hotel. We were off to a great start in the Black Hills!

La Quinta Inn & Suites in Rapid City South Dakota was a very comfortable stay. The room was just the right size for four ... people not to feel crowded. Marilyn Nov 10, 2007
This hotel has a huge waterpark inside and therefore is full of families with children. Although I was not with kids, this ... did not bother me at all. It was still quiet and very comfortable. For a family with young kids they would have a blast! The room was comfortable, there was lots of parking and it has excellent highway access. The only drawback was its location at the very edge of town which was not close to many amenities.

This LaQuinta was relatively new so the physical plant was good. However , there was a waterpark but no pool for guest use. ... The price of $19.95 was ridiculous for 2 people who wanted to relax/exercise for a half hour or so. Our room cleanliness got contiually worse from no towel replacement after the first night to no bathroom cleaning and trash emptying after the second. Breakfast was good. There is alot of construction on the interstate around the hotel causing some dangerous approaches and exits.
