Part hotel, part water park -- a retreat on the east side of town

Parents can unwind at the on-site restaurant, Sliders Bar and Grill, where a 10-foot video wall plays the latest games and tiny burgers are a must. Mount Rushmore National Memorial is an easy drive from here (27 miles), and guests can also motor to the other major attractions of the area, including Crazy Horse Memorial and Custer State Park.
Highlights

All rooms and suites at the La Quinta Inn and Suites come with free Wi-Fi. The on-site fitness center has a treadmill, elliptical, recumbent bike and strength-training machine.
Dining
A 10-foot video wall makes the on-site Sliders Bar and Grill a popular hangout for sports fans. Popular menu items include gourmet pizzas and -- of course -- slider sandwiches. Lovely hotel with great food

La Quinta in Rapid City is a beautiful hotel with bright colors everywhere, giving an over all friendly atmosphere. The food in the hotel restaurant was fantastic and they delivered to the room when we didn't feel like going downstairs. My only complaint would be that the water park was packed full, but what else would you expect on a weekend? Over all, great time.

Better than average for the price.

The hotel is not located in the best area if you want to eat someplace else besides the hotel. The room was nice and clean. Unfortunatly there was some distracting noise, that I mentioned and they did not even send someone to check it out.

Would have been great with family.

This hotel is ideal for a family vaca, especially if you wanna hit the indoor waterpark. As a single traveler all I wanted was a nice and quiet room to sleep in b4 my long drive the next day...let's just say that didn't happen. The room was really nice with high ceilings and quite clean but the sounds of kids and slamming doors lasted well until 1 am and started up again around 7am. Check out wasn't until 11am but evidence that the maid had started her rounds began at 9am and it was plain annoying. The 1 staff that worked the counter was crazy over-worked with customers leaving a line to join for those who wish to know the number to a local pizza place. It really was a nice place to stay...just not by yourself.

Relaxing Place to Stay

This was a great place to stay. Very close to Mt. Rushmore, Badlands, Needles Hwy and a longer drive to Devil's Tower in Wyoming. The room was very clean and the hotel was nice enough to upgrade me to a king size bed instead of the 2 queens I had reserved. My only complaint is that there is a strong odor of chlorine in the lobby from the attached waterpark next door. The smell did not go into the rooms. The bathroom made a few weird noises, but quit after a short time. Very friendly staff.

Sightseeing tip: Not Applicable

Go to the Black Hills before the end of September. Everything starts closing up in October and many of the area attractions are not open during the winter months.
