Very comfortable place to stay
The Holiday Inn in Rapid City was a very comfortable and enjoyable hotel. Our room met all of our expectations and we had a very pleasant stay. The staff were excellent!! The only change I would make would be the coffee maker, as it only made one cup at a time and seemed rather pointless. We enjoyed spending time in the restaurant chatting with the waiters/waitresses and also enjoyed spending time in the lounge, meeting other hotel guests from all over America.

Holiday Inn - Rushmore Plaza
I stayed at the Holiday Inn Rapid City-Rushmore plaza for 4 nights. The room was nicely decorated and very clean. Housekeeping did a great job in the room. I was a bit put off by the lobby decor - hundreds of dusty plastic plants. Seems like they could figure out something less phony. I was also irritated that there was no option to NOT have the sheets changed daily (to save on laundry energy usage), and no place to recycle newspapers or bottles that accumulate during a vacation.

Dining tip:
Short drive from hotel
This hotel was a short drive or walk to the downtown area, where there were numerous good restaurants in a range of prices, and a lot of shops to browse. Loved the statues of presidents on the street corners - very educational.

Comfortable jump off spot
We enjoyed staying here because the rooms were very comfortable. Kids eat breakfast for free, which made breakfast easy for us. The pool was fun for the kids, too. One of our rooms was a suite. This allowed for us to have real family time one evening when we didnt feel like eating out at a restaurant. We were able to order pizza and watch a movie just like we were at home! The location is a perfect jumping off point for Mount Rushmore, Devils Tower, Custer State Park and the Badlands. There were plenty of restaurants close by as well.

Great Hotel to Stay
Stay at the Holiday Inn RAPID CITY-RUSHMORE PLAZA, RAPID CITY, SD was a very pleasurable experience for my family & me. This was a first vacation as a family with our 15 month old daughter and we had a great time in South Dakota. The hotel is centrally located to everything from the mall & restaurants up on Haines Ave. to being able to go to the Badlands and of course Mt. Rushmore. We also enjoyed having a nice park in front of the hotel & civic center along with downtown Rapid City being down the street.
