In terms of location, Holiday Inn Express Hotel and Suites Rapid City hits all the right notes: Two miles from downtown and the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center, half a mile from Rushmore Mall and steps from restaurants like Minervas and Outback Steakhouse. Just what we needed
The purpose of the trip had to do with the Trail marathon, so it was mainly business. But we brought our daughter in law and granddaughter (age 16) and it turned into a fine family vacation day combined with working at the marathon. Overall, the Holiday Inn Express in Rapid City was above average in everything and the family liked having the mall so close by!!! - plus favorite chain restaurants. We were treated very well and appreciated the cleanliness!! And the fitness room is considered a necessity for us and it was very adequate - somewhat of a rarity.

The Holiday Inn Express seemed like a new hotel, very clean and I'd like to compliment the hotel staff for being so very nice and helpful. The beds were very comfortble and we did't have to ask for the linen to be changed each morning. If you're ever in Rapid City,SD I would definately recommend this hotel to anyone.

Perfect location!
This hotel was in the right spot to do and see everything in The Bad Lands of South Dakota. The rooms were clean and bright. they cleaned the room every day as should be. I was very impressed with the hotel.Pool area was always clean.

Very clean, nice and friendly
For the price and location this is great. It is close to a shopping mall and nice resstraunts. The express breakfast was nice and always well stocked. I only wish they would allow you to take liquids into the pool area. The two hot tubs are very large and clean.

just what i wanted
we were in the rapid city region to see the sights for a much over due family getaway, the hotel was exactly what i was expecting, the rooms were fresh, clean, the staff was friendly and the location was in a great spot. although we were only there to sleep and keep our stuff we still want something nice to return to. the breakfast in the morning was very good too, with my family that is easily a $40 bill in itself.check in was a breeze and checkout was just as easy[...]. if we are ever in the area again, i would absolutely stay here again.

Extremely helpful staff
Check in personnel were extremely helpful with suggestions on 'What to see'. One of the suggestions 'Bear Country USA' was one of the highlights of the trip.

Easy access
While the hotel was clean and convenient. Eating options are nearby which was good for us. Other attractions are within a short drive. All in all it was acceptable.

ok but weather and Sturgis rally crowds hampered entire enjoyment of area; lodging costs too expensive
