RC stay

This hotel was OK. Not the greatest. Their prices are usually low, but they raise them when anything in town is going on. The walls must be paper thin because you can hear the people in the next room talking. They don't have an elevator. Beds were comfortable & rooms had refrigerators. Only 1 little bar of soap in the bathroom.

feels like coming home

This home feel of a hotel is a great deal. My family enjoyed the lodge feel of the lobby and the big table to eat breakfast. I like the hospitality of the staff & felt comfortable asking anything. Lots of local places to eat along with nearby favorites. Overall a great bargain for a home away from home.

Needs to be honest

Overpriced in my opinion. The excersice room was just a treadmill and an stair stepper. So they can say they have an excersice room. Same with continental breakfast. It was toast and cold cereal, and mini muffins. If you're going to advertise these things then you should have adequate offerings. Also my son was disappointed with the television set. it didn't have the AV input/outputs so he couldn't hook up the xbox to play games or to watch movies. It was a nice clean, friendly staffed hotel, just needed a little work.

Loud Room

We booked late, so the price was fairly high and while the dinner and breakfast were good, the room we had was on the first floor and exceptionally loud. I could hear traffic noise from the highway as well as sounds and plumbing from the adjacent rooms. I let the staff know on the way out and got a non-committal shrug in response.

Great find

I was scared of this hotel because the price seemed too good to be true. Especially with an advance booking discount...didn't seem possible! But I went with the plentiful positive reviews across all the travel sites and was very happy. Clean, nice, spacious, ... everything I could ask for, and at a cheap price!

Foothills Inn: Poor Hotel

There were 3 problems: Both rooms were infested with crickets (they claimed it was because there was a biker convention & they opened all the patio doors which let them in). My only question is that If they knew they had a cricket infestation, why did they rent the rooms to us? Second, their free "breakfast" consisted of toast & juice. Third, they had no roll-away beds. The only good things were that they did relocate us to new (2nd story rooms), but only after they said they were full & we replied the rooms were unacceptable (about 2 dozen crickets were killed in both rooms). The other good thin was that the next day, a pest control company had been called & was spraying to eliminate the crickets. The hotel is a good 30 min. From Mt. Rushmore, but the city is quite large & has a lot of amenities. I'd imagine hotels closer to Mt. Rushmore are more expensive though. You have to judge between the benefits of staying in a city vs. a more secluded & expensive location. We were there to see Mt. Rushmore, the Crazy Horse Monument, Bear Country (awesome!) & Crystal Cave (OK). We really only used the hotel to sleep in. It's nothing impressive & we went out to breakfast. We aren't travelers who stay in hotels to hang out. We leave early, sight see & return late & go to sleep. If the price at Foothills Inn is significantly better than other options & all you are looking for is 2 star accommodations, it's okay. The cricket problem was probably an anomaly.
