Too many bugs
My wife and I stayed here while trying to do a cross-country road trip on the cheap. The manager was friendly, but the property has obviously seen better days and is in need of some upkeep. The pool was still under a tarp even though it was July 31st and there was a lively insect community all around the building. Some of these got inside where we added to the dead bugs that were already on the wall when we got to the room. The place also lacked many common amenities to be found at many other less-expensive hotels: no breakfast of any sort, no refrigerator or microwave, no sample toiletries. Based on older reviews I've read I would guess that this place has gone through a change of management in the past year or so.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY
I stayed in a MUCH nicer hotel for almost half the price in Sioux Falls, SD and Oacoma, SD. The bathroom was dirty and had ply-wood walls. The whole room smelled funny, the manager hardly got out of his recliner (that was sitting in the middle of the lobby) to greet me as I checked in. The entire outside of the building was infested with grasshoppers, both dead and alive. The pool is not open - it's covered by a tarp that is held down by bricks. Also, within an hour of checking in, a strange man opened our room door with his own key for the room. Apparently he had been staying there previously and never returned the key... He assumed he still had the room, I guess. After that we left the hotel for one down the road which was much nicer for the same price. When we left and told the management why, they didn't even OFFER a refund. They just said thanks, and left it at that... so we ended up paying for two hotel rooms!

Not Applicable
Don't forget to stop at many of the roadside attractions as you drive through! There are tons of signs that don't show up on online searches! We stopped at some beautiful places. Also, double check any addresses you have for anything! Many of ours turned out to be wrong or hard to find!

Not good
The Ad for this hotel is outdated at best, the pool was closed, the room was filthy, the carpets where nasty.I should have known when my sister found a fly swatter that we were in trouble. BUGS.....everywhere....and a roach. The price for what it was was outrageous, 69 bucks for a room, extortiate.Bathroom was terrible, dirty,i couldn't shower in it. Police where called when a domestic fight broke out, no decent locks on the doors, so we were scared.Just the worst night ever. RUN and keep running from this place.

The price was right for a quick stay. The pool was not available to use. The staff was friendly. The room was large with 3 beds. The microwave was dirty. There was a restraunt next door and had good food. It was a place to stay for a night. It did provide a frig and microwave.

This is a place to stay when nothing else is available but not my favorite if we would had to stay longer. The town is very small and not much to do or see.

Unusually hotel
The room was very large and super clean. We were a little worried when we got there, it looked very old and not a place we would usually stay at. The parking was in the back of the motel, we worried about our car all night. The owner was friendly, and the diner beside the motel had GREAT food. The pool was closed, but we were to tired to swim anyway.

The price wasn't bad, especially since the room was about 20 foot long with 2 full beds. The room was very clean and had a microwave and refrigerator too!

So bad we didn't stay there!
6/27/2010 Dakota Inn Kadoka SD Another patron complaining that no clean towels had been put in the room and the room had not been cleaned for 2 days, AGAIN! Swimming pool had been closed by the health department. Room had a terrible odor. Remote control would turn the TV on but would not turn the channels nor control the volume Ended up staying at the American's Best Value across the freeway
