the expensive price tag left us unimpressed

Sure this hotel is close to the heart of Deadwood, the rooms were very clean and quiet, BUT.... The pool is very shallow and the dirtiest pool I have ever seen in a hotel. That is no exaggeration, and I have been in A LOT of hotel pools. There is no hot tub, but considering how gross the pool area was, I don't think we would have utilized it anyway. The food in the buffet smelled so bad as it permeated the entire hotel, that we almost got sick just from the smell... So needless to say this is not where we ate supper. Parking is horrid, and you have to walk a few blocks before you get to the shops, restaurants, casinos, etc. I have stayed at various places in Deadwood that are much closer to the action for HALF THE PRICE. Staff was very courteous, but that is not good enough to get us to ever book a room here again.

Very clean and comfy beds

The hotel was really nice. The gentleman at customer service was extremly nive and very helpful. The rooms were really clean. The beds were very comfortable. They offer a free breakfast that is pretty enjoyable. They also have a buffet at night which is ok but expensive. The only thing I was really disapointed on was the customer service in the casino. I was disgusted how I was treated. The people at the casino are extremly rude. This lady actually tossed my id at me when she toke a look at it. I will stay there again but wont spend my money at that casino.

Even in winter season Deadwood has plenty to offer.

Our stay in Deadwood was very nice. Staying two nights at the Hampton Inn at 4 Aces casino was really a lot of fun. We came for a Valetines getaway and had a wonderful time even in the winter season. The friendly staff was helpful in guiding us to the area attractions. Our biggest complaint comes with the food at the casino. We tried the buffet and the food was not the best. We were not willing to try the Valentines buffet the next day as it doubled in price and we had the feeling the majority of the food would taste the same as the day before. (We chose to eat at a nice resturaunt in Rapid City) The breakfast buffet at the hotel was "okay" it's free so can't complain about that can we? We got down there by 9:00 and the food was little picked over and the eggs/potatoes got cold fast and tasted as if they had been there awhile. Make it yourself waffles were fresh and the coffee was hot. The area has plenty of activities and places to visit. We spent time in Sturgis (no crowds like the summer), but many attractions were closed. Rapid City offered all of a typical cities' aminities with the added fun of a tour of a Blackhills Gold jewelry factory tour. (yes, good bargains) Mt. Rushmore is just down the road and is breathtaking and again no crowds to fight. We went to Crazy Horse - but was a little bit disappointed with the price but a lot of the added facitilies was closed for winter. Crazy Horse is a work in progress, so it doesn't feel as awe-inspiring as Mt. Rushmore.

Other than the paking... pretty good

The rooms were clean, and breakfast wasn't too bad, but the parking was terrible. There is a parking lot two street lights away, or you can park across the street in a one way dirt lane. The casino seemed busy, and the hotel is in easy walking distance to the rest of the town.

Road Trip through Black Hills

We were visiting the beautiful Black Hills area. I was really impressed with the Town of Deadwood. We enjoyed walking down Mainstreet and visiting various shops, casinos and bars. The hotel casino was very convenient and fun.
