Below average motel
Air conditioner did not work well. No pot for the coffee maker. No mat for the bathroom floor. Help not helpful. Would not recommend this hotel.

Not worth the money
The problem with this hotel is not that it is unclean or so bad (except for the stench from the air conditioner). The probem is that this is an older hotel and shows it. It has an outdated and worn appearance. The competition in the price range is newer and better, and this hotel is not a good value.

Road Tripper
Recommend clean and convienient
This was a good place to stay for sight seeing. It was very close to the Crazy Horse Memorial and not far from Mt. Rushmore. The room was very clean and well kept. The front desk clerk and housekeepers were so nice. The room was a little cozy, but we didn't spend much time in it so that was no big deal. I liked the fact that the sink and a large counter area were outside of the shower/toilet area so we could both get ready at the same time. The only down side was that the free breakfast was very crowded. My husband didn't care for the cold biscuits and gravy. I didn't eat the breakfast. The indoor pool was a good size and also very clean. Overall, though, it was very good and I would absolutely stay there again and recommend it to friends.

Long walk from hotel
The Purple Pie Place was a good place for ice cream and pie. The best hamburger in the town of Custer is at the Frontier Grill. I know its a bar, but don't let that fool you. We didn't care for the food at the Cattleman's Restaurant. It was expensive and the food was below average in quality and taste.

1880 train was a lot of fun. Great wine and meal. Enjoyed the rock climbing-they were very patient with a beginner. Alpine Inn a great place to eat dinner and the Purple Pie had great snack and pies.

Perfect for Us
VERY friendly lady at front desk - even made a call for us to check on hours of operation of a nearby attraction. Easy access to Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse Memorial & Custer State Park. Nice town with plenty to do! Rooms very clean & decent!

Accurate
Very pleasant stay. Well maintained facility. Only complaint is the parking slot for our room was on such an incline that the entire care was in a "twist" and doors would slam back into you if you are not able to move very quick (which I can't - I have a slight handicap) and this made it very nerve wracking and tiresome to get in and out of the vehicle.

Good Location
Centrally located to Black Hills attractions. Location plus hi-speed internet were my main issues. Employees were friendly & helpful. Good restaurant on-site.
