We were in Walterboro and did not want to pay 100.00 for a night, so we tried this Ramada Inn (trusting in the brand name). Got it for 53.00 for one night plus tax. It was, well, seedy. The operators were not at all friendly. I guess they field a
lot of complaints about their hotel, so they don't take the time to say much as they know you will be complaining by the morning. Hotel either needs a major rehab or a knock down. Bad paint, old furnishings. Sheets appeared clean and there were no bugs so that was positive. Pillows lumpy. Pop up in sink broken, so water filled as one brushed teeth bolts on toilet rusted brown. Extremely basic, but I would expect to pay about 29.00 for this type of hotel, not over $50.00. It's like a truck stop motel I would imagine. If you want something in that price range and you can take your dog/dogs, then this would be it. Breakfast was a complete disappointment. No one was on duty refilling anything so the coffee ran out no fruit -- really nothing that you would want to eat other than cereal. There was some real bacon, but not much. Coffee, extremely weak. If these people want to stay in business, they need to spruce it up, one room at a time.
We were greatly disappointed. Despite the motel being mostly empty, our room was all the way in the back. The staff did recommend for us to park our car in the front for the night. It was the first motel that stressed checking who was at the door
before opening. The sheets were clean, but the walls had so many modifications the sheet rock should be replaced. We slept in fear and left at the break of dawn. The breakfast was usual fare, but not great on taste. I didn't see much of Walterboro, but if local criminals are targeting the motels so much, it is best to pass the town completely.
The internet was down and the pool was broken, after driving for 16 hours that is all I really wanted to do. I took a quick look inside the room and left. This is the first time anything like this has happened.
Hotel features (5 = best, 1 = worst):
Short walk from hotel
It really not close to anything but Cracker Barrel, but I happen to love it.
