Santee Fairway Inn

Don't stay at this hotel. Very run down and unclean. Upon entering my room the walls were dirty, blood on the bathroom wall....the light in the bathroom was not working.....the staff was nice, but no place to stay.....

Room made us both sick!

We spend a quick overnight at the hotel. Room was okay but the walls were dirty. The bathroom was spotless and the bed was clean and very comfortable. We did not want to spend that much for a less than 12 hour stay and found the price to be right. The ice machine was not working and this is definately a no frills hotel.

As long as all you want to do is us the bed and take a shower, then great. Phone didn't work, pool was not clean, water comes into the room when it rains, have not upgraded anything in the room, like tv. They claimed to have wifi. Never was able to prove it.

Prior to making reservations for my trip to Santee, S.C. I reviewed motel/hotel accomodations on the Internet and finally logged on with Cheap Tickets Website. When Motel 6 accomodations were listed I also reviewed past customer reviews. Two negative reviews were noted, however other reviews were very complimentary. Since I was traveling alone I decided to book reservations with Motel 6. Upon arrival at Motel 6 I was pleasantly greeted by [...] Motel 6 General Manager. With the negative reviews in mind I asked [...] if I might inspect the room which I was assigned prior to checking in. [...] was very gracious and immediately called an employee and asked that he show me my assigned room. When the door was opened and I stepped into the room I knew imediately the room was satisfactory for the room had a fresh odor; it was clean and neat. The bath was very clean, bath towels and bed linens were clean with a fresh smell and no smoke odor noted. I was happy with the accomadations and reported back to the lobby and[...]. Checkin was completed with pleasant conversation and Motel 6 facilities explained. Hot coffee was available in the early morning but not breakfast which was OK with me for I seldom eat at any of the motel facilities which provide a breakfast.Next I was greatly impressed with their Security System which provides security surveillance of all outside parking areas and room entrances with visual screens monitored twenty four hours at the reception area.All staff members at Motel 6 which I had the pleasure of meeting were very friendly and helpful with a pleasant smile.

I was in town for my father-in-laws funeral and I have never stayed at a hotel where there was no iron or ironing board. No blow dryer. We had to give a deposit to use their iron and then we had to buy our own blow dryer because they don't even have them. I find it hard to see people traveling with business and not have this stuff provided. It was just very hectic.

We mainly had the same room we had the last time we stayed there. The room was 107 and in front of the room is a parking space for the handicap and everytime the car started up or moved we heard it. The staff there were very nice but they could not get me a room phone that worked. In order for me to talk to my family members that were there in other rooms I had to use my cell phone not room to room. In order to have a iron in the room you had to give them a $5 deposit to use the iron and when you checked out and you had to take the iron back to the office and they returned your money back.(maybe they were having a problem with people stealing them-not sure). The refrig was too small to put much in and it was based on the floor. I have a bad back so bending down to put something in the Frig was not good. In my Brother's room, they had a bigger Refrig and it held more. In order to keep things cold I had to use my cooler. We didn't use the pool but we noticed that the kids did have good time in it, which was good. Maybe the next time we will not get the same room and it maybe better.(in the room we killed a large spider, some sort of large bug and this made my daughter not want to be there. But we stayed the hold time). Didn't rest to good because of the noise either from the generator or the boys outside. Housekeeping was always in a hurry to get the room cleaned. 1 lady came to our door 3 times while we were trying to get dress. When I'm on vacation I get up when I please not when someone wants to do the room at 0800 or 0900 in the morning. Not saying that the service wasn't good because 1 lady came in to try and fix the phone but to no availe and I knew that she was just across the way but all in all it was a good vacation. We got dressed to use the pool but it was to crowded so we just watched for a little while and found something else to do. Maybe next time we will use another Hotel or Motel and see how we will like that. The owner did not want use to shoot our fireworks on his property, He sounded like he was mad,so we went into the road, although we did not have any firecrackers just someother things that my daughter wanted to use before going to bed. So we just stopped and turned-in. We don't know why he acted that way but I talked to my daughter and tried to make her understand and it was okay. I just thought that he colud have been a little more polite instead of acting like he did. We did have a good time. My Brother had a Bar-B-Que and our family came from Eastover and some other places and from around town. We had a great time there, then we went to Orangeburg to another Bar-B-Que and had a great time there. The next day we went to Elloree and joined our cousin at his house and had another family gathering and we really had a ball even though it rained we had a time. Eating and meeting new family members and playing cards (tunk) and listening to the music, eating, cooking and watching some of them dance and acted up, we just had a ball. Everyday there was something else to do. I think this trip was better than most that we have taken to South Carolina. My daughter had a good time because she stayed in Charleston for 2 weeks and in Santee for for a week. It was all good. Maybe next year we will stay at the same place but get a different room.
