Comfort Inn North Myrtle Beach

It was scary-we went in thru back door-hallway was nasty, dirty, smelled of smoke-the non-smoking rooms were on same hall and very close to smoking rooms. We were there for relaxation, fun, and quiet time of reflection. So this made it pretty uneasy to stay in the room for long periods of time (which we had planned a day of reflection in the room). We didn't really want to stay. We found chocolate in the chair, hair in tub, empty bag of chips behind bed, light bulp filthy, small holes in bed spread, seem like bugs (not a lot just enough to notice) was plaster to the wall (but you could hardly see it) we saw them because we totally disinfected the room with amonia, bleach, lysol, all purpose cleaner [from the frg, microvave, bathrm & tub just about everything you could touch, sprayed the beds, didn't walk barefoot on carpet. I just stopped looking because it was discouraging. We had to pray and encourage each other that we will do more research and spare no expense next time. It took us [my sister-in-law]about 2 hours to convince ourselves to adapt to dealing with the conditions. We were there Sun-Thurs. and even on Tues. I still considered checking out or just spending one day at a more suitable place. If you are a person with low standards and like the Motel 6/8 type then you will love this hotel. If you want to feel somewhat at home and carefree, then this is not the place for you. It is not something I wish to experience again. I only booked because of the breakfast but next time complimentary breakfast won't be a factor-I'll get my own. When looking at the reviews for this hotel before I went, I attempted to give them the benefit of the doubt since some reviews were from 2009 & 2010. Thinking that surely someone with the company is monitoring the reviews and correcting the complaints. But as we entered and throughout our stay the reviews kept penetrating my mind, so I never reported anything to the staff. I figured that serves me right trying to cut costs and I had been warned by the reviews. Please read reviews they are at least 90% right. So if you can deal with taking a chance then go ahead and book, but please beware sometimes pictures aren't worth a thousand words but a headache. The only great part was the breakfast and friendliness of the staff. The location wasn't that bad as well as having free internet access and the business center in lobby free of use.

The room was average. The staff was great.The manager was very nice. We really enjoyed the hot breakfast. It was a great way to start your day. I will stay at this hotel again.

The hotel looks like it is original, never updated. I would not walk barefoot on the carpet it was not clean. The bathroom was very old, bath tub was stained and cracked/hipped. I would never stay there again nor would i recommend to a friend. Maybe the bikers who are there are bike week might be better suited to stay there.

We came to have Thanksgiving dinner with friends and for an overnight stay. We checked in early so that we wouldn't be late for our dinner reservation. Our return to the motel was at 10 PM so we settled in and turned on the TV--the remote control fell apart and we had sound but no picture (minor problem). I have been sleeping sitting up for about 4-5 years so find it difficult if not impossible to sleep lying down in bed. Since the only 2 chairs in the room hit me in the middle of my back I had to place one against the wall so that my head had some support. Needless to say I spent most of the night dozing at very short intervals while I listened to my husband's snoring. I should have asked for a chair with a higher back or a lounge-type chair so this was my fault and not the motel's.

Staff were pleasant and helpful, check in and out was quick and efficient, room was nice comfortable and clean, located on the main street into town, was only a few miles to the beach, plenty of restaurants within walking distance.

[...] i also wasn't informed that the hotel didnt have a elevator which made it very difficult since we have a disabled son and when i mentioned it to the hotel staff they didnt bother to switch us to the first floor even though they had plenty of room. also they let there work crew use the pool and breakfast anytime they wanted so there was no enjoying either of these. when i told the woman who i booked through she suggested another site that was [...] with there other guest if you can read between the lines.

pleasant, peaceful and relaxful stay. would recommend to everyone who wanted the same experience!

Good and quiet stay

We were there to attend a funeral. The room was convient and confortable. The Amana air conditioner shuts off when not heating or cooling which really helps getting a good nights sleep. Most Motels the fan runs continuously which inhibits a good nights sleep.
