Pay attention to the reviews

Several things need improvement at this hotel: 1. NO bathroom in the hotel lobby as you wait to get checked in; 2. NO hairdryer in the rooms. You have to pay a $10 deposit at the front desk, get the hairdryer and then return it to the front desk to get your deposit back. 3. The Environmental Services staff are pleasant but need the proper tools to do their job. The carts they use are falling apart. 4. We had to park in a garage parking that was almost 2 blocks away. 5. The Garage parking has several used mattresses, broken toilets and other furniture items stored on the first floor 6. One of the lights in the stairwell (2nd floor) was burned out. DHEC should fine them. There was also trash in the floor in the stairway exit. I have pictures. 7.You have to be careful or you will get scalded with the bathroom sink faucet. It worked poorly and was either scalding hot or cold. 8. The comforter on the bed was from the 1960's. Thin and cheap. 9. Bring a pillow. Only 2 per bed. 10. Be prepared to take the steps, only one elevator per building which is shared with housekeeping staff. Overall this was the 2nd worst hotel I have stayed in (yes, there is worse). Spend the extra 20-40 per night and get a much better room at another hotel. If your are a college student on a budget and are used to a frat house and plan to stay drunk and puke most of the time - the place will be perfect!

Would not recommend

First the counter staff was VERY rude and unable to answer any type of questions regarding the area, transportation, etc. They do not allow any type of early check-in nor late check-out, even at a cost. A few bathroom ammenities are supplied upon check-in, it's a one time deal, they'll not be replenished each day. No pool towels are available, you must bring your own. The pool area was way overcrowed, with many people being non-paying guests from the outside. The lazy river is not what the site leads you to believe. It's basically just a round small circle, the 5 intertubes for the river usually weren't available due to the kids taking them into the indoor pool or removing them from the river to use for jumping in the main pool. The pool area should've been supervised to prohibit ocean swimmers from returning to the pool totally sand covered without showering. It was impossible to lay out and read a book, the chaos from all the kids who were acting like animals jumping, shoving, made relaxing impossible. There was no whee near enough of the hard plastic uncomfortable chairs at poolside. The halls reaked of what smelled like cat urine. There was a complete flood of sewage on the first floor of the hotel. Coffee makers were in the rooms, however, when the front desk was asked for coffee, they directed you to go 4 blocks down to Piggly Wiggly supermarket.

Sightseeing tip: Long walk from hotel

Transportation is definately a problem. Although it's only 4 miles from the airport, a taxi fare is arounf $20, to the Boardwalk it's around $10 each way. If you have your own vehicle, good luck with parking.

only good thing = it's on the beach

Very unaccommodating. VERY dirty hotel that's run on the cheap; even though you're paying average prices.

I would avoid this hotel

While the hotel appears clean and neat, there were cockroaches in our room. There is only one shakey elevator servicing 8 floors and the staff has priority. We ended up using the stairs several times because the trash bins or laundry bins were taking up the elevator or it would be stuck on a floor while they took care of their business. When we arrived we were told there was parking in front of the hotel and the next day we were told to move our car because they just turned all those spaces into 15 minute parking. Our options were across the street, or two streets away in a parking garage. The staff is pleasant however we definitly were not the priority.

Not So Great

The hotel adverstised on the sign that it was 'NEWLY RENNOVATED". I couldn't tell. The room was clean, but the decor was very dated. The bathroom was outdated as well. The shower/tub was old and there was mold inside the shower handle, I took a shower with my flip flops on! the slip guard mat in the tub was old and dingy. I came out of the shower only to be greeted by what the front desk manager said was a "Palmetto Bug".

business trip

No coffee anywhere in motel. Had to ask for soap, shampoo every day. One VERY unfriendly desk worker that made the whole motel seem even more shabby than the place already was. Would not recommend except for the location by the beach.
