I liked the hotel overall, but did have a few inconveniences. I was informed by front desk that we could only use the baggage ... carts with the help of the bell hop/valet. The bedding smelled musty and I had difficulty sleeping because of the smell. The housekeeping staff did not leave proper toiletries (i.e. hand towels, soap, and toilet tissue) 2 out of 4 days we were there. I liked the hotel view down Ocean Blvd., ocean view, sofa was comfy, hotel was clean (except our bedding), and pretty good location. I would stay there again if the rates remain as cheap as they were when we went ($31/night). If not, I'm going for the best bargain even if it means staying at another hotel.

Ask the front desk for the necessary toiletries/ towels you need. Don't depend on housekeeping to keep the room stocked.

Better than I thought!!
Shain Dec 20, 2009
For the excellent winter rate offered I couldn't expect to much! But to be honest it was much better than expected. I had ... read the reviews and was worried about taking my children there (lack of cleanliness and all), but after pulling down the bedspread and not paying attention to the outdated decor, I felt like the room was fine. My girls loved the pools and jacuzzi. The kitchenette was clean and the bathroom comfortable and clean. At least they changed out the tub/shower to a one piece style (I abhore the tiled fixtures - you can just feel the grime and bacteria crawling on them). I would definately stay there again, especialy for the price!!!

The Patricia Not-So- Grand Resort Hotelh
ogfy Dec 4, 2009
Welcome to the 70's Show or maybe the 80's Show! Hotel was very "dated" in terms of appearance, furnishings, lobby decor and ... ammenities. Linens were worn, sheets did not fit bed properly air-conditioning unit was full of mold. Stayed on Dec. 2, 2009, which is off season and hotel had a 15% occupancy rate. I requested a late check out of 1:00p, normal check out is 11:00a, I was advised by the front desk that I could check out at 12:00n but anything later than that I would be charged $15 per hour. From 12:15p to 12:25p I recieved 2 phone call from the front desk and 2 visits to my room from hotel employees inquiring when I was leaving. Rude staff, out-dated and worn furnishings/decor and bland food in the restaurant. I would not recommend this hotel

We arrived two hours early and the room was available. We went up to our room and noticed that the hotel was run down as soon ... as we stepped off the elivator. The hotel it self was so nasty that I told my husband not to touch anything. Bodily fluid was in places that they should not have been. It was not the kind of place that you would feel comfortable staying in without catching something. I travel at least twice a month..all over the united states and this is the worst place that I have ever visited. I say visited because I could not stay at this hotel. I checked out 2 hours after arriving.

The bed was a king size bed and looked like it had seen better days. The bed linens were old and worn and didn't even match ... in colors. The mattress was very uncomfortable and lumpy. There were no coffee stirrers in the coffee basket. Since it is winter time and there were not many guest there, it was quiet and that I enjoyed. Otherwise I have no other complaints.

Walked the beach,Relaxed in the room, which was very outdated. Old TV with broken knobs. Rusty bathroom and kitchen fixtures. ... Kitchen cabinets old and falling apart. Carpet was old and very dirty. Drapes where falling off the rod. We come to Myrtle Beach every year to celebrate our wedding anniversary and this was the worst hotel we have stayed in.

Arrival at the Hotel was a little early so had to wait for room, no problem. [...]This room had not been cleaned yet. Had to ... go back down to front desk and inform them room had not been cleaned yet, so they gave us another room, still not ocean front. This hotel even though it advertises ocean front rooms the way the hotel is situated on the property, most of the rooms are ocean view not ocean front. When you ask for ocean front you want to go out on balcony and look straight at the ocean looking up and down ocean front, cannot do this at this particular hotel. Have stayed at other hotels where they advertise ocean front and our stays have been wonderful, this stay was mediocre at best.

The kitchen was not cleaned up well after the previous guest. It lacked in cooking supplies. The stove top gave me a shock ... while I was cooking! I feel the rooms need updating to keep up with the other hotels in Myrtle Beach.

The Ripleys Attractions are very pricey for what you get. We were very disappointed in both the aquarium and haunted mansion.

First, plan on fixing and eating a few meals in your room, since there's a kitchen. There are a couple of grocery stores within easy driving distance. Second, research local attrations on-line before your trip. Several offer discounted tickets or free upgrades.
