Not again...

The location was okay, the sevices wasn't good, room had a damp smell, the doors were bit up, the lobby, around the building, the elevator, the hallway were very dirty, no room services, couldn't get the breakfast to our room. Overall, bad experience and would not go back to the location. [...]sold it, but it didn't represent as was sold.

Please rent a car to able to be around without paying too much of taxi fare. If possible, have a navigation system handy, customer services would not even waste a minute to explain.

DO NOT GO IF YOU WANT TO ENJOY YOURSELF.

I have been to Myrtle Beach many times in the past but this was my worst experience yet. The best thing about the hotel was the location. It is right on the strip and centrally located from just about everything. I looked it up online before i booked it and saw great pictures and floor plans of the rooms. When we got there, the room was NOTHING like what was described. There were no towels, the phone did not work, the remote for the tv looked as though it just came back from fighting a war with duct tape on it. We booked an Ocean front room and was placed in a room that barely had a view of the ocean. We had to make our own beds because housekeeping was busy for 2 days. We wanted to leave but it was Mustang Week and literally all of the hotels were booked in the area. The restaurant with a beautiful view turned out to be a restaurant with the view of a very SHODDY hotel named Palmetto Shores Oceanfront Resort in front of it. Even the pools were sub par. They were dirty and were nothing like what was shown in the pics on the site.

If you like Japanese, Kono was GREAT. The prices were very reasonable. The atmosphere was casual-relaxed and you can have a semi late dinner and stay for the club which plays a variety of music. By far my favorite restaurant there.

Dump!

Well... You get what you pay for! I Was down at Palmetto Shores Oceanfront Hotel for a week and it was the worst hotel i have ever stayed in by far! The service was far beyond poor. We had to keep asking for fresh towels, soap and tissue.I am 100% sure that this hotel doesn't own a broom or a vacuum because our room wasn't swept not one time.(I AM SERIOUS) Odor.... Odor... Odor. The stairs smelled like a alley behind a liquor store! The room itself is outdated(beds are very hard kinda like sleeping on elephant tusk) but the ocean front view is great. My stay would have been better if i had saved my money that i paid for the hotel, instead rented a blow up bed, brought a lamp, and desposable cooler.

Definitely not a Resort

For starters we were deceived about where we would be staying. The pictures on this website and the Palmetto Shores website show only the newest/main towers. For a "resort" the staff is not trained well and doesn't offer many amenities at all. Only one ice machine worked in all four buildings, when we checked in we saw new refrigerators being carted in and we later had to have ours exchanged as well (it died within 2 hrs of us being in the room with food in it and took about 6 hrs to be replaced by security because maintenance had left for the day knowing about it), our chain lock fell out of the wall which took another 8+ hrs to be replaced, and housekeeping would pick up towels but not leave same amount. Each incident took more than one phone call to resolve, even a few trips to the front desk. When we arrived to check in we waited for almost an hour because they had overbooked our room type. We were told there was no manager on property to fix the error so we would just have to wait. Much to our surprise the manager we finally spoke to(we recognized) had been in and out of the lobby the entire time we were waiting. After being asked "Are you still waiting?" we finally got assistance from the manager who gave us room keys but did not check us in. We had to wait another ten or so minutes to get checked in and receive our parking pass. Which by the way "Parking is free" but they don't guarantee it. We had to go around the lot for about half an hour before we could find a space, daily! But back to check in, as we waited for our room we heard some astonishing remarks from the "Resort Staff." Watching them pick up the phones and hang up on people saying "If you don't say hello it's not hanging up" or talking about how bad their week or day had been, and other phrases like "I'm leaving in 10 minutes if this is fixed or not" expecting us to sympathize. The room type had been changed to accommodate us and had a "semi" ocean view. But I feel any room type was overpriced for the building we stayed in. It was a $50 a night room at best! It was just a place to stay in my opinion and no trace of resort ever came into my mind. Just because a hotel is on the beach does not mean it's a resort. At checkout after talking to the manager he admitted that the depiction of the "resort" on both websites was inaccurate.

hotel that needs improvement!

I went with a friend for R & R, and sunning. The beach and pool was great! the hotel room was horrendous !! the lobby was very deceiving, because it was modern, updated and the air conditioner was quiet. the room was dirty, rundown, missing furniture, and the A/C made so much noise I couldn't sleep.

Buyer Beware!

No check in parking available. No handycap parking available or any parking at all close by. Was told by security guard at check in desk that we could drive a couple of blocks over to overflow area. The other woman with me drove over to a parking space to find VERY POORLY LIT AREA WITH LARGE GROUP OF SEEDY LOOKING MEN HANGING OUT THERE. Check in was lengthy & there were customers complaining about various things. The room we were given was in an entirely different building. That building did not have elevator available on ground floor. We were told we would have to walk up stairs to get to the elevator. This was not possible since I have health problems & we had a newborn in a stroller & another adult with a phobia of stairs. After talking with staff at check in desk we waited a very, very, very long time for someone in management. We were finally given a ground floor room in the main building. We were greeted at the door to our room by bugs on the door & more inside. There were long, blonde hairs on the bed linens. The bathroom was extremely small & there was no where in it to place clothes while changing - not even a hook on the door. One of the adults in our group kept hitting shoulder on the toilet tissue holder while trying to sit on the commode because it was soooooo small. Even though there was supposed to be internet availability with wi-fi this was not the case. The small kitchen area was the better part of the room, but even it had some dents & dings in some of the appliances. Location of room was in area where there was VERY EXTREME amount of noise from people all hours of the night as they were entering the building!!!!! We only spent the night because we had a small newborn & needed a place to heat a bottle!!! WE DID CHECK OUT EARLY THE NEXT MORNING WITH CANCELLATION OF THE SECOND NIGHT & REFUNDS TO BE MADE ON CREDIT CARD!!!!! I'm not a person to complain, but needless to say you can see this was a totally bad experience from start to finish!!! We were not the only ones to have these problems as others were complaining of the same problems when we entered to check in.

Not what I expected

This hotel has several buildings close together, so in one you will find the kiddie pool, in the other you will find the gym, in the other you will find a deep pool. The best pool was in the Atlantis building. The rooms are old and not kept up. The bathroom sink was so low, and I'm not a tall person, I had to scope to wash my face. The refrigerator was rusted, the door to the balcony didn't open unless you yanked it out, the A./C unit on the wall was loud and we couldn't sleep. The hallways and stairs were dirty and smelly. The nice part was the cafe across the road for breakfast. We did meet some friendly staff, that was the only plus. I would not recommend this hotel.

DO NOT STAY HERE

The hotel was filthy, there was mold running down walls. It didn't look like the floor had ever been cleaned. The beds were hard and you could feel springs in you ribs. We asked for a different room and the second one was no better. The bathroom looked like it had never been scrubbed. I never took my shoes off I was afraid to get a foot fungus. The only 2 good things were the location to the ocean and the free breakfast across the street at the cafe. But you can't take anyfood back to your room. The cleaning people never came to our room, our trash was overflowing and we ran out of towels.I will never stay there again.
