Palmetto Shores Oceanfront Hotel

My friend and I visited for my birthday weekend. I was not impressed by much of anything but the breafast coupon and the restaurant who honored it. It felt seedy and claustrophic. It could not compare to any of my previous trips.

Not the type hotel that I'm acustomed to staying at. It lack the plushness. It was just a plain room.Parking during registration was awful,it took us forever to find the location because the building was not clearly marked,a palm tree was blocking the sign with hotel name.It was certainly not the Embassy Suites,or Homewood Suite.The ocean view was all that was impressive

[...] The room was very small with 2 double beds and bath with a small fridge and an even smaller TV. It had a DVD player but was not hooked to TV. Maintenance assured me that they'd be back ASAP with a TV that could hook to the DVD player but we never saw him again. Housekeeping was awesome! Our 'Ocean Blvd' view that we were supposed to have was actually of the alley between 2 of their 4 buildings. To get to our room we had to carry luggage UP 7 stairs to get to the elevator, and, no, there were no bellhops to assist. Handicap parking was very limited. Our first night we had to park ACROSS the street in their parking lot and drag our luggage across a three lane busy road. One thing that I liked was what was on the balcony - the rooms were non-smoking so I had to go on the balcony to smoke BUT out there were two chairs with a miniature thingy that you drop your butts down a hole into a container. Isn't that terrible that this was one of three positives? The only other positive was the pools. Each of the 4 buildings had a different type of pool that was accessible to all visitors. Our building had an 8' pool; next door was a kiddie pool with giant mushrooms that had water pouring from the tops; another building had an outside & inside hot tub, a 1'kiddie pool, an inside pool and a lazy river outside. The chair/umbrella rentals on the beach were outrageous - $30 for one day! Will never stay at Palmetto Shores again!

the room was very clean. walking distance to shops and dining.very nice staff.

During our trip to myrtle we stay in 2 different hotels, Palmetto and a top of the line resort( not so great). Palmetto's staff were very friendly and resourceful. Houskeeping kept the room cleaned. The hotel itself had great swimming pools and is within walking distance of restaurants, stores, and attractions. Our family had the best time while staying at Palmetto

I had booked a couple of rooms for myself and some employees for a convention months ahead of time. When arriving all seemed well besides the hotel being a little old and beat up, not a prob sort of expected. We didn't plan to be in room too much anyway. When headed to one of the rooms it was obvious that we did not get a room that we had reserved, but we went ahead and checked it out anyway and to our surprise when we walked in the beds were still messed up and the TV was still on. The room hadn't even been cleaned yet. I went to the desk and told them that the room clearly not a ocean front balcony which I had ordered and was not cleaned either. (figured they accidently gave me wrong room number). They proceeded to tell me that it was the correct room and the order they got through [...]was not for a balcony room although I had paid extra for that.They told me I would have to take it up with [...]. Kind of aggrivated at this point. Ok. fine maybe [...]made a mistake... They said it will take a while to get the room cleaned so i would have to wait. I asked if they have any rooms available like the one that I had initally tried to order and they said there were none. So I decided to wait on the cleaning.. which would only take about 10-15min. After about 45min I decided to walk to a hotel next door which was called the A.T.L.A.N.T.I.C.A. which looked alot newer and cleaner.. I was going to just cancel my stay at Palmetto and stay somewere else. I whent in to check for available rooms and they said they had a room but it was not available for both nights only one and they had another room available for a different night. While checking on this a firmiliar face appeared behind the counter.. it was one of the same employees from behind the desk at the palmetto...so the hotels are owned by the same company. Why would they not have offered me a room next door??? didn't make much sense to me. O.K. I'll take the room..just want to put our stuff somewhere at this point. Well sir that room won't be available for about an hour or an hour and a half. I said O.K. we will just go and get something to eat while we wait, here is my phone # call me when it is ready. Finally called me and we were able to check into our new room which I ended up having to pay extra for. The next day check out is at 11am so I whent to the loby to see if the other room was going to be ready and to see if we needed to check out by 11. They said it would be o.k. to stay in the room till our other was clean. I waited around untill about 3pm then whent to check again because they were supposed to call when ready and the room was not ready. I told them I was going out and they need to call and let me know. I finally got a call while I was eating and I told them that I was in the middle of a meal and that I wold be there as soon as I was done, I was then told to HURRY UP!. Tweeked on my nervs a little more. No prob I said I will get there as quick as I can. So cutting dinner a little short I rushed back to transfer 5 peoples things out of the room. In the middle of doing so the front desk called me down. So I stopped what i was doing and whent down and waited in line for a while while listening to all the other guests complaints about simmilar things. When I got to the desk I told them who I was and they proceeded to tell me to hurry up and why wasn't I already out of the room and that the people that need to go into my room have been there waiting for 5hr. That was the last straw.. I used a few choice sentence inhancers and told them that if they hadn't called me down so I would wait in line for 20min I would have already been out of the room.Whent back up and finished moving stuff and came back out to do something else. While walking out of the loby a smart comment and a name was called at me for taking so long... as if it were my fault, I wonder where they could have gotten that idea?? Really Dissapointed in service. They are understaffed and un organized. Po...

Well, its worth its price.

Went for a short stay before heading to NMB, in short, room was small, showing it's age, felt like a college dorm. Nice staff, nice location, and the kids pool area was decent. The smaller hotel doesn't have an elevator so was a pain carrying everything up and down the stairs. All in all it's perfect for spring breakers, and high schoolers, but if needs a little nicer place to say them move on.

The hotel was very nice and the staff was friendly. It was great on Wednesday and Thursday, but did start to get a little crowded on Friday and Saturday. Definitely a lot of people there over the weekend! Overall it was a lot of fun and in a great location to walk to many different fun places to eat and hang out!

This was the worst experience ever out of all my times of visiting myrtle beach! I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone! We were there from friday til monday and we recieved room service only on saturday! There was no oven rack in the oven when we asked for one they said it would be the next morning; well of coarse we never got it! The refrigerator was dorm room size and we had to walk to another hotel to get ice no freaking ice machine wow.....! And to top it off there were bugs and the room smelt like it had been closed off for years! I will never stay there again! And I can't forget there was no where for us to unload we had to walk!
