Palmetto Shores Oceanfront Hotel

Hotel is definitely older (I remember when it used to be the Poindexter) but I don't need luxury. The location can't be beat, if the Boardwalk & other activities interest you. When I get there, I park my car & it does not move again until I leave. Can easily walk most everywhere & that's HUGE with Myrtle Beach traffic. There's a Piggly Wiggly straight up on 17 & their restaurant is across the street & quite good. Staff is friendly & helpful. Lots of staff activity, cleaning the pools every morning, aerating the front lawn, & they are in the process of updating the rooms but like any capital project, that will take some time. My room was basic but clean & it had a full size refrigerator, which was great. I won't hesitate to stay here again.

The staff was friendly. The room was clean minus the little bit of dirt in the tub which rinsed away. Location was very convienant. My only complaint is that the shower water was weird. It wouldn't stay comfortable. It was either to hot or two cold like one kept going in and out, so we had to keep playing with the knobs. Also since we had a group I tired to arrange to have all the rms together and they didn't work well with me. One room ended up in another building. Not convienant.

Check in was two hours late, tub was not clean and was chipping, crumbs on the floor near the bed when checked in, breadfast in cafe was cold and stale,not enough effort put into cleaning and restocking, Best part of the hotel was the check out!! Never again.

The location was great, but the rooms were old and a bit run down. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to stay within walking distance of the boardwalk at a good price.

Checkin was wonderful, didn't experience any issues and was greeted with great customer service. The room was oceanfront and the location of the motel was within walking distance to the shops on the Grand Strand and the Sky Wheel. The room was clean and we had no issues while we were there. We would stay again! You will probably read some bad reviews, but don't let that steer you away.

The first thing I noticed when I pulled up to the hotel is that it looks nothing like the picture. The picture on the website is actually a picture of the hotel next door called Atlantica which Palmetto manages. Palmetto Shores is old looking and has three buildings and they all look the same. I stayed in the Coral building which is bout 5 stories high. There were roaches crawling on door fixtures and in the hallways but thankfully they weren't in my room. My refridgerator had water dripping in it from the freezer defrosting which got all over the floor. There was a coffee maker with no coffee. The kitchen sink was stopped up. The tub was not clean when me and my wife checked in. Both the front door and balcony door had wide cracks along the side where u could see outside and into the hallway. There was scratched off paint on the headboard and no phonebook. Our second day housekeeping cleaned the room and didn't bring fresh towels or rags. They emptied the trash but didn't put bags in them. I had to use the bathroom to do a #2 and didn't have toilet tissue. It took my wife 15 minutes to get in touch with someone at the front desk and another 30 minutes for someone to bring tissue. The third day noone even bothered to clean the room. Noone checked the room or even knocked on the door. I was very unsatisfied with the quality and service but yet there is a lot of s taff because they stand in big groups outside on the sidewalk doing nothing but smoking and talking. If it wasn't for me having a oceanfront view I would've went else where. I will never go back to this hotel. idewalk by the blvd doing nothing but smoking and talki ng.

Upon driving up, the building was old but the property was kept well. Check in was smooth with friendly staff. Upon getting in the room, it was small, carpet was NOT filthy, dirty, yes, but its on a beach, duh. The location was PERFECT to walk ANYWHERE. The staff was absolutely AMAZING, from the pool bartender, to a clerk that went above and WAY beyond for OUR comfort, to the manager that just happened to be walking around picking up trash in the parking lot when he heard my son yell up that he needed a towel. Manager stopped in his tracks and said "hang on little man, I will go get you one", and was back within 2 minutes. The battery stopped working on our door for our key and I needed heart medicine that was inside, the clerk was there in 1 minute to open the door because the electrician would take 3 minutes to get there, not one minute. We needed a coffee cup, they brought us 6. We needed a towel, we got 8. I have stayed in hotels WAY "swankier" than this and have gotten FAR WORSE service. So the question of does STAFF actually make up for things like CARPET?!?! Why YES, YES, they DO...

hotel bartender fun, friendly and skilled, room needed more thorough cleaning (ex. overhead fan in bathroom totally filthy.) My room was not cleaned one day. One day I asked for a wake-up call on my departure day and I got no call. Big disappointment from using this hotel the previous year.

To start off the staff was rude. When it came to the room the kitchen had leftover food in the sink and the bedding smelled like it was never changed. If it wasnt for the location we would of left.

The only problem we had was that we arrived on time but our room wasn't ready so we had to wait 45 minutes to check in. Other than that the hotel was a great value and we enjoyed our stay.
