Kids stay free at Charleston area budget hotel
The Red Roof Inn Mt Pleasant Patriots Point hotel is a good starting point for everything the Charleston area has to offer – it's a short drive from almost every attraction. The hotel is just two miles from the Patriots Point Naval Museum, the USS Yorktown aircraft carrier and departures for boats to Fort Sumter and dinner cruises. Historic downtown Charleston is just a short drive from the Red Roof Inn Mt Pleasant Patriots Point hotel as are the airport, train station, beaches, plantations and convention center/entertainment complex.Hotel Map

Mediocre at best
The absolute bare bones of a hotel room. No coffee maker, sagging bed, cheap bed linnen and an air of cheapness about the entire establishment. Clerk eating when I checked in and had some food on her lip.

Needed an inexpensive place to stay while my daughter was moving in to the College of Charleston. Room was clean, area was quiet and secure (I had a bunch of dorm stuff in my car). I spent very little time in the room and had no need for amenities other than a toilet, shower and clean towels (I prefer reading to watching cable TV). Nice extra: hotel is directly behind a shopping center in walking distance with a Harris-Teeter (grocery), Sticky Fingers (bar-b-q) and Starbucks. Also, great seafood restaurants in the area.

Short walk from hotel
It's just a short walk (or run, if you're a runner) to get on the new Cooper River Bridge which has a GREAT walkway/bikeway and a fabulous view of the river and whole Charleston area. Take your camera - this is a magnificent piece of architecture. This was a real treat!

Not much there.
The location was convenient but this was one of the smallest rooms I've ever had. Not much in the room other than beds and TV. They did have coffee in check-in area but not coffee machine in the room so the further away you are from check-in, the harder for any refreshment. It wasn't terribly expensive but I would have expected much more even for that price.

perfect place to rally from the beach!
it was good. we were there for a quick weekend getaway. We didn't plan on spending copious amounts of time in the hotel but it was clean and well managed. Just wish the towels were softer after spending all day on the beach.

Red Roof Out
Hotel was conveniently located to all that we wanted to visit in Charleston. The surrounding neighborhood felt safe. The people at the front desk were hospitable, warm, friendly, and helpful. We stayed 4 days. In that time, the beds were never changed or even made up. No sign of maintenance was evident except a change of towels (which were small, thin, and scratchy). Mattresses and pillows were very thin and uncomfortable. There were small bugs on the bathroom floor. The colors of the bedspreads and curtains were unmatched and unappealing. If not for the great location, we would have switched.

Tips for Check-In
The motel clean and a great bargain compared to others I have stay at in the area for the Family Circle Tennis Tournament. Took only about 10 min to get to the tournament. My tip is to request a room on the back side of the complex. It is much more quiet with a beautiful view of a good sized pond. The front side is a lot noiser with road traffic and refrigerated trucks running their diesel engines all night while staying at the motel.

The evening staff when we checked in was great...very friendly and helpful...the cleaning crew was not so great...the first room we were put in had not even been cleaned, though it had been checked off as clean the seocnd room was much further away and pretty average..when we went to get ice we found black fuzzy mold growing on the lid of the ice bucket...There were only 2 towels in a room with 3 people....We were able to get more from the front desk, but the next morning after a qick trip to the beach we came back to shower and apparently the cleaning crew had come in, taken all but one towel and not replaced them...not good when you have 3 sandy people
