Not impressed, would NOT stay again
FirstTimeReviewer Oct 27, 2009
Small room with a REALLY small bathroom (which was dirty upon check-in). Worst shower ever - no water pressure. We upgraded ... to a "harbor view" room, which was essentially a view of the first floor roof, other rooms, and the pool. Service was average. Location was good for seeing downtown as well as the island. We used the trolley several times, though it only runs every other hour between 10am and 10pm, so it really wasn't as convenient as we had hoped. Only redeeming quality of the room was a comfortable bed.

Our room was cozy and cute. The resort had a really nice little restaurant and bar on site, and a relaxing pool area. We ... were pleasantly surprised! The resort is about 2 miles from downtown Charleston, and they have a free shuttle every 2 hours until 10:00 p.m. There is also a water taxi available, and the front dek will gladly call you a cab if you would like transportation in between shuttle runs. We loved the resort and will definitely stay there again!

Superb location for the price.
WSF traveler Oct 11, 2009
Had wonderful 8 day stay at this resort. Good service except for one person. Room was as pictured in photo. Nice, clean, ... quiet, safe room but with a small bathroom. Had two queen beds, one with synthetic pillows and blankets, the other with feather pillows and comforter. Bed a little saggy where most people sit on it to watch TV. One little uphostered chair in cornor. Desk with chair ok. Small, shallow pool but comfortable chairs & cabanas. Everything kept clean. Indigo restaurant expensive daily breakfast, but Sunday breakfast buffet for only $13 is worth it. Root beer floats every afternoon popular with adults as well as kids. Adequate free parking, but tacked on $8/day resort fee. Easy access to bridge over to Charleston. City downtown area just 15 minutes away. As a single female traveling alone I felt good staying here and plan to return in the future.

We attended a "Destionation Wedding" Most of the events were at the hotel. The staff and functions were very successful ... mostly due to the staff. The site was beautiful and also permitted easy access to Charleston where we did a great deal of sight-seeing etc.

Lovely Stay!
J Naddell Sep 13, 2009
We booked a standard room during Labor Day weekend and were upgraded to a harbor-facing room that had been recently ... renovated. The room was beautifully decorated and included a large flat screen, recessed lighting and jetted tub. The harbor views were wonderful and my children enjoyed watching the giant cargo ships coming in and out of Charleston Harbor. The hotel also had a large and lovely pool and jacuzzi area. The negatives were the lack of affordable dining options within the hotel. The $11 continental breakfast was of the same caliber of other budget hotels that include them with the price of the room. There were also some upkeep issues that had been neglected...mildew in the shower and a broken overhead light in the bathroom. Not perfect but would recommend the hotel, especially for families.

you get what you pay for!
Merle Sep 7, 2009
This was a very lovely hotel, however if we needed two queen beds instead of one king, pay extra. If you needed a fridge, pay ... extra although there was a wine cooler in the room that they do not tell you about and is not supposed to be used for food. When I called to ask about their breakfast, they made it sound like it came with the stay which was not the case. There was a complementary taxi shuttle every two hours into Charleston which worked out well. Besides this the hotel was really very nice, very clean and the pool and marina were beautiful. (But I was looking forward to the breakfast which was a little disappointing and expensive!)

We had two great dinners in Charleston. Once we took the shuttle and the second time we drove in and got street parking (after 6 pm it's free!)

The staff allowed us to take a late evening swim in the pool after hours. We were taken to various locations by the trolley ... that were not during it's normal run times and locations. Trolley drivers were great. Gave us ideas of where to eat. Even took us to the beach and came back and picked us up.

Nice place, good location, bad breakfast
Canimal Aug 22, 2009
The place was great. However, the breakfast buffet was no better than a holiday inn's and at $17.00 per head at total rip ... off. Coffee was poisonous. They advertise breakfast from 6:30AM I showed up at 7. Had to wait 10 minutes for service and the Chef who was supposed to make my omelet never showed up. The Reel bar, however, is a different story. It has a great ambiance and very friendly staff. Food was simply wonderful.

Perfect view... of the dumpsters
Cameron Aug 19, 2009
We were there sightseeing, and this hotel is in a good location for sightseeing, very clean, and within walking distance of a ... few things. Unfortunately they disappointed on every other aspect of the hotel stay: *The desk staff was incredibly rude annoyed when we asked questions, blaming us when our room keys stopped working. (lock was defective) *The concierge glared at us on a daily basis, as if to say don't you dare ask me a question or interrupt my web surfing. (which seemed to be his true career) *Door man that was rarely there. *Pool that had bizarre hours 10am-10pm, to use the pool we had to interrupt our day and come back to the hotel, I've never seen such short hours. *The tiniest beach you've ever seen, without access to the water (so can you even call it a beach?) *During their special Root beer float hour we found out that they did not know that you put root beer in a root beer float, and had none available (Duh!) *The maid was annoyed with us that we did not leave our room one morning and slid a note under the door to let us know about it. *The worst part was looking out our window to see the view of... The fenced off area with dumpsters, grease traps, and all the old furniture. Its as if they aimed to make the view as bad as possible.

Room was very nice but also very small. Bathroom was one of the smallest I've seen in a hotel. Only one towel in bathroom, ... hot water faucet on sink keep falling off, thermostat did not work and temperature was controlled by turning complete unit on and off. Television remote did not work. On a good note the pool area was very nice as well as the Marina. Shuttle service was provided to historic downtown area. Personnel were nice and the location was perfect for sight seeing.

This was our first trip to South Carolina. The resort gave us a great impression of the south:) We found the staff to be ... very friendly. The lady who took care of our room was wonderful. We had plenty of towels each day. She knocked on the door and gave us chocolates on our last night. Great place to take a walk each morning. I would suggest walking across the bridge. We only had time for one-night stay but this charming hotel on the edge of Patriot's Point made us wish we had more time to ... stay. The setting is lovely. A short drive from Historic Charleston, it is on a marina with a lovely view of the Ravenel bridge, Charleston, the harbor, and nearby beaches. Beautifully decorated, nice grounds, comfortable beds with feather pillows. Regular rooms are not large but very nice. A great place for a family to stay.

There is a water taxi that can take you to Charleston and around the harbor for $8/person ($5 for under 12 and youngest are free), plus a free shuttle bus in the city. There are wonderful sea birds to watch along the boardwalk, and nearby are WWII ships that can be toured.

Needs Improvement
VacaQuest Aug 7, 2009
There was large equipment construction just outside of our balcony door during our entire stay. The noise started early in ... the morning and lasted all day. We asked to be relocated to another room. The front desk staff provided no assistance to find a quieter room. The hotel had very few guest and there were rooms available away from the noise. It seemed the staff didn't want to be inconvenienced. The bathroom in the room was dirty when we arrived. Additional toiletry items were placed in the room sporadically including toilet paper. We had to ask twice for a roll of toilet paper after the room was cleaned.
