Wonderful experience

Whenever I look online to book hotels I always look at the pictures to take a tour! A lot of times I have been disappointed. Not this time! The hotel staff were excellent! The accommodations were great and very clean. I do plan to stay there again in the future.

An OK hotel

I was at this hotel for one night only. It was ok. Not posh at all and certainly not a "resort" even thought they charge you a $12/day resort fee. My room was comfortable but very average with virtually no closet space (1/2 of the TV armoire was for hanging clothes). The staff was friendly and the rate so so. I would have been really mad if I had to pay the rack rate for the room I had. This was a former Hilton hotel and the structure is around 20 years old. It's in decent shape but I would have been just as happy in a Hampton Inn.

What a great place to stay!

The stay here was great, the staff was excellent and was very knowledgeable about the area and quick with help when asked. The setting and grounds were awesome, the beach area and marina were clean and enjoyable, catching the water taxi to downtown Charleston was easy and fun, in 3 days we never had to drive out of the lot. If your a history buff, being able to walk to the USS Yorktown and taking the Fort Sumter tour is great and easy because it's right next door to the resort. The hotel bar is great too, very relaxed and casual atmosphere with good pizza and hamburgers!

Time-saving tip: Not Applicable

If you take the water taxi to downtown and dont want to do a lot of walking , get the hotel to give you some phone numbers for some bike taxi's (rickshaw's). Using them to get around is not very expensive and saves time and walking back to the water taxi. Call one of them up, tell them where you are and want to go and they will get you there.

The "best kept secret" of Charleston,SC.

There is plenty to do at The Charleston Harbor Resort and only a short complimentary trolley ride or water taxi cruise to Historic Charleston. The area is beautiful with a great view of the Shipping Harbor, Arthur Ravenal Jr. bridge, Fort Sumter, and Historic Charleston. The hotel is easily accessed with next to no traffic or parking concerns. In the warmer months, there is a wonderful pool/spa area as well as a beach area with volleyball court to take advantage of. The in-house restaurant seemed to have a diverse menu and appeared as a very nice dining atmosphere. Great complimentary coffee in the lobby and all the expert advice to experience the areas, whether dining, shopping, seeing the sites, or relaxing on the local beaches! Great place to stay and we will be repeat customers next time down South!

Patriot's Point earns its' name for all the things to see there. Take in the docked/retired USS Yorktown while there, Fort Sumter is only a short distance by water taxi, which is a thrill in it's self, and a very interesting Cold War submarine memorial are some great attractions that are close-by.

Great Hotel and Perfect Homebase

This place was amazing!! It was a springboard to see the city of Charleston and the surrounding areas. The views from the hotel were unbeatable. If you wanted to take the ferry to Fort Sumter, the ferry leaves right next door from the hotel. We weren't there with a family, however this is a very family friendly hotel as well...without intruding on your non-family stay. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful and the rooms were very clean and comfortable. I was surprised that with everything that this hotel has, including location, it was not more expensive. We had a rental car, which was great for getting around the area, however there is a water taxi along with other transporation to and from the city. I would highly recommend staying here and would gladly stay here again the next time I am in the area.

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

If you like breakfast, there is a great diner just down the street from the hotel. Check out Boulevard Diner, you'll be happy you went...unless you go on a Sunday...they're closed.
