Pleasant and nice people

My only negative is the lack of refrigerators in the rooms. Ice buckets are so last century. The staff was extremely helpful with local attractions to the point of printing out directions.

Money-saving tip: Short drive from hotel

There is a Costco across the street. If you are traveling and have a Costco membership, you can save money on gas by filling up at Costco.

Ant infestation

I paid about $76 via Obtz for a one night stay at this hotel (4/9/14). I was in town on business. I was assigned a first floor apartment which was fine because I was able to park my vehicle directly outside my room. Check in was seemless and uneventful. The room was very small, akin to a European room; this was fine, I was not on vacation. It had the basics, a bed, flat screen tv, iron, bars soaps and shampoo, no conditioner or lotion but that was also fine by me. The wifi worked fine. I can't comment on breakfast because I did not have time to partake. Now for the CONS: * Desk in room was very small and tv can not be viewed when sitting at desk; maybe not a problem for some people but I appreciate tv while multitasking at the desk with my work * ANT INFESTATION!!! Not sure if this was attributed to my room being on the first floor or what. After eating dinner out, I had brought about 3/4 of a candy bar home. At around 2:30am, I woke up to find no less than 100+ small ants in my waste bin and all over my candy bar, which was on my night stand at the time. After trashing the candy bar with many ants attached, about 30 mins later there were still a good number of ants on the night stand and of course the waste bin was a full blown ant colony at that point. I few rogue ants even made it on to my bed. It made it difficult to sleep the rest of the night not out of fear, just didn't feel comfortable sleeping in a bed of ants. If it was just a few ants, I would not even bother mentioning it but due to the quantity, I would say this was completely unacceptable. I didn't mention it to the staff that night out of my own laziness to pack my stuff and change rooms. I didn't mention it the next day at checkout, neither, because I was in the hurry and the staff was speaking with multiple other guests at the time; I didn't want to cause a scene in front of the other guests. Conclusion: I am not a picky guest when traveling on business, just try to find a cost effective, clean room that is at least 2 star rated. My room number was #108 if you want to know before booking. Not sure if this was just an anomaly but I will not be staying at this hotel again. I would be surprised if I was the first guess to face this issue. I would strongly suggest for management to get at least the first floor rooms professionally treated for pests.

Stay at another hotel until ant issue is resolved at the Microtel Greenville. I have previously stayed at the Homewood Suites in Greenville; great staff, clean room, good value.

Could have been better

Everything was alright I guess. There were a few things that was not great. The handicapped room that they first gave me was on the second floor, which concern me about the safety of me. Then we move downstairs to the first floor in which the sink was leaking water until the floor. Then we moved to a third room to where the shower head did not work. In all three of the rooms had no handicapped shower chair. But what made everything better was the courtesy and the politeness of the staff. They tried to make us feel as comfortable as possible. I give the staff an A-plus but the motel itself a C.

Great Location, Average Room

The hotel is easily accessible from the Interstate 85 and 385 and located near a major shopping mall. One can quickly and easily get to downtown Greenville either by city roads of I-385. Lots of restaurants are nearby. Hotel facility very well maintained. On the average, there is always a fresh pot of coffee in the main lobby. On one occasion we asked for a fresh pot, the staff willing obliged cheerful. The staff in the hotel were great. The bad: The room we (adult male and female) stayed on the 3rd floor is very small. We could hard find space to walk after putting out suitcases on the floor. We had three 14" suitcases between us. The space in the wardrobe can only accommodate one suitcase. TV is over the wardrobe, so you have to look up to watch TV. Breakfast is average with little or no fruit (only apples were available in the 4 days we spent at the hotel).

Great value, clean, comfy

This hotel was modern, clean, and very comfortable. The rooms are small, but it was perfect for my overnight business trip. Comfortable bed & pillows, very clean bathroom. The complimentary breakfast included eggs, meat, yogurt, various breads/bagels, oatmeal, fruit, cereal, juice...plenty of options. The staff were all extremely friendly. Location is convenient to restaurants and stores (mostly chains), and close to the highway. Excellent value.
