Ate at Soby's first night. Food was good but a little overpriced. Would eat there again. Mary's Restaurant was a nice find on Main St.

Business trip
Easy walking distance to the shops and restaurants, while out of the busy-ness of it. Staff were very nice. We had a plumbing issue and they gave us another room to use. Breakfast had lots of choices, from cereal and sweet rolls to eggs and bacon to fruit and yogurt. Good coffee. And love that there is a fridge and microwave in the room!

About 8 blocks down Main (towards downtown) is Soby's Restaurant (American southern cuisine) --terrific. A few blocks further is Ford's, also terrific (cajun food). And don't miss the Ale House!

spotless room, right downtown
Located right downtown on Main Street in Greenville, we picked the HI Express because it was the cheapest option of all the downtown hotels. For me, $130 (+/-) is a lot to spend for a night's sleep (location, location), but at least this felt like a $130/night hotel, with an oddly spacious, clean and like-new room, comfy mattress and great breakfast. They even have pillows labeled according to their different levels of firmness, which sealed it for me because I sleep with two different pillows at home. The Hampton Inn wanted $200; Express delivered a Hampton-quality experience for considerably less.

Over on the west end of downtown, on the other side of the park and sort of hidden, is a pub called the Velo Fellow. Best fried green tomatoes I've ever had (served with pimiento cheese!) and a great beer selection. I can also recommend the lamb burger. Overall a cool place.

Perfect location and new renovations
My husband and I visited Greenville for the 4th of July. We didn't realize it was such a huge celebration, and were thrilled with the location of our hotel in relation to the festivities. At the end of the main street, it's away from the crowds, but within walking distance to absolutely everything. The staff was sweet and the renovations were done only a month or two before, so everything felt clean and new. I wish the bed was a little bit more comfortable, but that's always subjective to each person. The breakfast was like typical hotel breakfasts....happily put food in our tummies, but nothing to write home about. Overall, we enjoyed our stay very much and would go back again!

Very Rude Staff
I had a late arrival check in and found out that I had been placed in a handicap room with no shower tub. After a long drive I just wanted to get cleaned up so I called the front desk to go to a standard room which is what was listed in my confirmation. I was told that I should just get my money back and go somewhere else. To add insult to injury, the hallways were loud and noisy as well as the guests abouve my room which the front desk did nothing about. Do not ever stay here...unless its raining and you dont have a car.

Renovating..beware
Not terrible, but not great. I wasn't sure if our room had been renovated or not - parts were dated and worn, parts were okay. One wall was bare and dirty, like they had stripped wall paper off. You'd think maybe the check-in clerk would explain but no. When i was checking in a guest was complaining about the condition of their room and they were told that a manager was not available on the weekends...huh?? Good location for downtown. Pool was unexciting, and cold, even on a 90+ day. Cooled you off, I'm just saying it aint heated. I will try somewhere else downtown if I go there again - great town.

Best of Downtown
Have stayed at this hotel in Greenville multiple times over the last 5-6 years and there is no better for the price. Not sure there is any better at whatever price downtown.

THE PLACE in downtown Greenville
I have stayed here many times and continue to do so when in Greenville. This hotel has always been nice, clean, and reasonable. There are fancier places to stay, but none any better when it comes to a good down-home place to stay at the most reasonable price for downtown.

Just take a stroll down Main Street and pick a place! I have not had a bad meal in Greenville. Favorite place is "Smoke on the Water", "Sticky Fingers", and any of the Mexican restaurants on Main.

Good location
It's our first time to visit Greenville and also first time to stay at Holiday Inn Express. Greenville is a nice little city, very clean, and people are hospitable. The hotel itself is located near restaurants and park. We would definitely stay here again if our travels take us back.
