Not a good place to stay

When I arrived after 5 pm, the staff had to look and see what rooms were cleaned, which had heat and which the tv and Internet worked. To top it all off, the shower curtain in the bathroom had mold and mildew on it. I would not ever stay there again.

should have read reviews before booking

The hotel looks like it was at one point a very nice place. It is no longer. There were people sitting in the stairwell smoking and drinking beer, the hand rail was broken and laying on the ground. It smelled of urine. The room was adequate but there were hairs on the pillows. I always bring my own pillows and sheets so not a big deal to me. Go to another hotel. Spend the extra $5.

Awful!!

First, this hotel is now a Clarion, not a Holiday Inn. When you first walk in, it's a nice looking place and is kept pretty tidy. There is a bar and restaurant inside the hotel and it's nice too. When I booked my room, I booked a smoking room but when I arrived, I was informed that there were none left. No big deal. We get our key and go up to our room and as soon as I walk in, I notice that the room is TRASHED! The blankets are all over the floor, the trashcan is full and overflowing and the bathrooms were disgusting. I went back down to the front desk and told the clerk and she informed me that the room said it was clean on the computer. She gave us a new room that was clean so it worked out fine. The only complaints I had were that the floors were soaked halfway down the hall and anytime we were walking to our room, the whole floor reeked of marijuana. Later on that night, we went down to the front desk to ask when breakfast was served in the morning because it stated that they had free continental breakfast. We went down to the breakfast area in the morning and the place was dead and half of the food they had wasn't even out. There was a bagel display with no bagels, no cup or drinks, a waffle maker with no batter. We ended up just walking into the kitchen and finding our own cups and found some orange juice to drink. About halfway through our meal, a woman in an apron who looked strung out on drugs comes running up to our table and leans over our food saying we "got some real good stuff." She then asked if we had a coupon for the food that we had and when we looked at her confused she started talking about "since the manager has went down on the room prices, the breakfast buffet is now $4.95 each." I told her I wasn't informed of this by any of the employees and I wasn't going to pay it since I was informed of this halfway through my meal. Apparently this lady was supposed to be the hotels "waiter" or something because as soon as a group of people of her same color walked in, she immediately seated them and brought them drinks. I think she was just racist and took us for a bunch of stupid white people. She told me I'd have to go to the front desk and talk to the clerk about it even though I repeatedly told her I wasn't going to pay it. After we finished eating we went to walk outside to smoke a cigarette because I was pretty ill at how the stay just kept getting worse. Halfway down the hall the lady comes around the corner from behind us and yells at us "HEY! AREN'T YOU GOING TO TALK TO HER?" I told her I was going outside first. She then asked what my room number was so she could go tell the front desk. We finally went to the front desk and explained what happened and the lady cut me off mid-sentence, didn't even look at me while she was talking, and was talking about "well, the free breakfast is only for our choice members so unless you're a choice member then it isn't free." We went back and forth with this until finally she said "Well since you didn't know just don't worry about it." I told her thanks and walked off and we packed our things and left as quick as possible. When we were checking out she was still rude as all get out and still refused to even look me in the face while she was being a witch. Needless to say, I will never be staying here again. It was by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed in and honestly not even worth the $44 for a night. The only thing nice about the place were the pillows. Greenville is a wonderful place, just not the Clarion hotel on Augusta Rd.

Worst hotel I can remeber ever staying at

I arrived at 6pm (check in is at 3), and got in a long line of people with reservations that had no room. The one clerk had to go upstairs to check each room before he assigned it, because the the hotel computer system failed to say when a room was finally cleaned. I went through a key that wouldn't work, a room with a stopped up sink, a room with no linen before I was given a room that actually was serviceable. No manager was on duty, only one overstressed clerk. I arrived at 6p and finally got into a room at 7:45. After that I felt I deserved a drink, and the bartender, literally, did not know the recipe for a martini. I had to explain it to her. I'll never stay at another Clarion, and will think twice before staying at a Choice Hotel. This was terrible.

Homecoming

Hotel cleanliness was not good at all. While the hotel was visible from the main street, finding access to the hotel was difficult. Very few options for eating establishments in close proximity.

Where do i start???

OK first thing its not the Holiday Inn anymore its the Clarion. Just thought you should know. Next the kind people put me on the third floor with the elevator OUT of service. Now lets talk about the bar that they have and the biker crowd that it brings and the all "inspiring" noise that the tricks they do in the parking lot at 2 in the morning. Then to wake up to find that the a/c unit has leaked into your room soaking half the floor and soaking the six hours of work you had printed in your computer bag (thank God my laptop was on the table). The place is nice to look at but until they fix all the problems they have its just a bad place to stay.

Not good

Unfortunatly I did not think of checking the dates of the previous reviews. The room was okay, the toilet was hardly working and the shower was backed up. The are the hotel is in is feels unsafe and we were bummed when the pool was out of service...perhaps forever???? I DONT recommend this hotel.
