Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites COLUMBIA-I-26 at HARBISON BLVD

Beautiful, clean and friendly hotel!! Great value and convenient location! Would definitely stay again!

The Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites on Harbison Boulevard is an older building, conveniently located close to Harbison Boulevard, Bower Parkway and I-26. I've stayed there a few times and it's always been okay. Not spectacular. Not great. Just . . . okay. There's usually something off about the room. Once it was a broken shower curtain rod. Another time, I was in a room where the telephone didn't work. This stay, the deadbolt lock on the door got stuck as I was leaving. However, the rooms have always been clean and the staff has always been friendly and helpful. I will probably stay there again.

Like a lot of other reviews I read, we too experienced our room not ready upon arrival. Check in time is 3:00pm, but even at 4:30 pm we were told rooms were being cleaned. Apparently they need to hire more workers. While the front desk workers were EXTREMELY nice, they could not fix our issues. Our air conditioner was not working, so I reported it to the front desk. She told me that there was not a maintenance man working and that the other desk worker was filling in changing light bulbs, and that she would report our a/c problem. That was several hrs ago, and still no response. Great people, but maintenance needs tweaked.

We arrived at the hotel between 6 and 7 pm. When we got to the room, the maid was just beginning to clean. She was apologetic, and we assured her it was no problem and that she should take her time - but she rushed the cleaning and it was not great. There were small droplets of blood stain on the sheets of one of the beds, so we just slept in the other bed. In order to enter the vending machine area, you have to have your key card with you - which is inconvenient.

I don't know how to make this short.... 1. We get assigned to a room on the 4th floor and house keeping is still cleaning the room at 4:30pm!!!!!! Isn't check in at 3pm? 2. Then, who great idea was it to offer us a room on the 1st floor with the construction workers putting down new carpet. BANG, BANG, BANG!!! 3. My husband's thought: the gym was not worth having one put inside the hotel 4. To me, if check out is 11 am, don't have house keeping knock on my door before then. On top of that, if at 9:30am I say we don't need room service, I sure as heck won't need it at 10:30am. Besides that, great location, alright service, maybe when the construction is done, it will have a better review. Until then, it's under construction.

The hotel was very clean and the staff was very friendly. However the bed was hard as a rock and both my husband and I woke up with stiff necks.

[...]. After I booked, I immediately called the hotel direct to see what kind of room I would have. I was given a room w/ a king size bed. I would have preferred 2 queen beds since I was traveling w/ my 18 yrd old son. When I asked if there were any other rooms available I was told the hotel was completely sold out. The hotel is across the street from a Mall and many many restaurants and stores. I found the area to be very congested with traffic all the 4 days that I was there. Housekeeping was great. Room was very clean. I would have hoped there was an indoor pool, but there was not. Exercise room very small , only 3 pieces of equipment.

The hotel staff was great. The room was nice. Our room and the entire 2nd floor near the elevators wreaked of tobbacco smoke. When we got home we had to wash all of our items and we are airing out our luggage. This was a non-smoking hotel????? Never again.

Breakfast serving staff was extremely courteous. I am impressed by here warmth.
