Overview

Set in the heart of downtown Charleston, the Wentworth Mansion is one of the world's finest and most unique hotels, as well as a pristine example of America's Gilded Age. Originally built as an opulent private residence, the Wentworth Mansion features hand-carved marble fireplaces, intricate woodwork, Tiffany stained glass windows and never-ending detail. Guests stroll through immaculate surroundings, unchanged since the days of the original owner, and sleep soundly in accommodations over a century old. It is, first and foremost, a residence. A residence of unparalleled drama and beauty, where hotel guests are surrounded by a gracious and hospitable staff. The Wentworth Mansion is a destination unto itself. In terms of extraordinary service, it is without equal - fine dining is served in our intimate restaurant, Circa 1886, and is accented by swift and professional service. The Rodgers Library provides the perfect atmosphere for reading or enjoying our complimentary cordials. The Harleston Parlor presents a jovial atmosphere for afternoon wine and hors d'oeuvres. It should come as no surprise, that a stay at the Wentworth Mansion offers more than just splendid accommodations. For some, the highlight of a visit to the Wentworth Mansion is the breathtaking view of historic Charleston from our cupola.

Charleston Escape

Would recommend Mon, Feb 28, 2011
Great lazy weekend, wandering around town absorbing its history and atmosphere, and trying out many of the excellent and varied restaurant options. Hotel staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful. Hotel itself was charming, comfortable and well located (although a bit of a walk to the hub of restaurants and shops). Comfortable beds. Fabulous bathrooms. My only mini complaint was the rather loud footsteps from the room above that woke me late in the night and early the following morning. Its a period building with wooden floors so not that surprising, however, a few more, strategically located rugs might help!

Great Week-end Getaway

Would recommend Mon, Jun 28, 2010
The hotel is a historic landmark beautifully set in the heard of old town Charleston just a couple blocks away from all the restaurants, shops, and museums. The elegance of the mansion, extraordinary rooms, complimentary breakfast, drinks, and friendly staff, made this a fantastic and relaxing week-end getaway. My wife and I were very pleased.

Shopping hint

Just a couple blocks away from shopping on King Street.
