Charleston Trip
Hotel management was very accomodating since I requested a l bedroom with 2 double beds and upon arrival we had a 1 bed with a double bed. We did accept a room with a king bed at no extra charge. Nothing else was available. They were very quick to change our room and help to correct a difficult situation. The location was terrific to downtown Charleston. It took no more than 5 to 10 mins to get there. We could even order pizza from the best delivery service with delicious pizza which was only up the street . No long waits, hotel told us about the business and how good it was and they were correct. Really appreciate all information they provided us with. They never avoided any questions that were asked of them. Very professional and helpful.

The old and the new
La Quinta comes in two parts. The old and the new. Stay in the new part if you can, the old is like a US Motel with outside walkways. The marina view is worth the upgrade. Convenient for Charleston but be careful of local cab companies especially "Express" they are unreliable. Breakfast is basic. Cleanliness is good. Staff are pleasant. Good value!

Better than expected!
If you're traveling by car this is a great hotel location, opposite the Marina and only a short drive to downtown historic Charleston. Large spacious rooms, large breakfast area and friendly staff... Gym is lacking with old, old machines and only 3 total (treadmill/ eliptical and weights). Better than I expected from this group. Nice one.

Good time.
We enjoyed our stay and loved being next door to California Dreaming, yum. We would have liked to have a microwave and refrigerator. They don't have a shuttle to the airport and you have to pay for the shuttle downtown.

Very Disappointed
When we arrived at 9 in the evening, there were absolutely no paper products in the bathroom and only a couple of towels for the three of us. When we called down to the desk, the night receptionist was not very pleasant. The room had a fold up double bed, instead of a sofa bed which was promised, and I was assured that they confirmed that with the hotel prior to making the reservation. This was not the hotel's mistake. The next day the fold up was not made, even thought it was left openned. On the fourth day, housekeeping did not make up the room at all, even though we had made two requests upon leaving for the afternoon. The daytime desk personnel were very helpful and accomodating. The evening receptionists were not as friendly. The shuttle drivers were great and also helpful. They gave us good information about the downtown area. .

Good layover on opur trip
We stayed one night each way of our trip to Morehead City. Both nights the rooms were clean and supplied suffeciently. However on the frist night the room was noisy from outside traffic and the air unit. However the beds were very confortable. The second night the room was quiet but the beds were very indented and uncomfortable. Staff was good and having breakfast included worked out great

Good for the price
This hotel is right across from a marina, which I didn't realize when I booked my reservation. Made it even better. For the price, it is a nice value. You have a bit of a drive to get to the historic district of Charleston but the lower price offsets that negative. California Dreaming restaurant is right there - nice place to eat with reasonable prices. Recommend this hotel for value and decent price.

Be careful with maps you pick up in the hotel. Some are not up to date. We learned this the hard way. Use mapquest or GPS to find what you need!!

Just ok
Our "marina view" room showed the roof of the hotel entrance and a teeny piece of the marina :( The room was alright and the hotel was quiet. Breakfast was fine but everything was disposable - plates, cups, plastic flatware, napkins, all condiments in individual packaging, etc - an eco-nightmare!
