Great 4th of July holiday

My husband and I stayed at the Holiday Inn Charleston Historic District and were very pleased with the hotel. We were looking for a good deal that was within walking distance to King Street restaurants and shopping. This hotel was new, clean, and in a good location. Overall very happy with our stay.

nice hotel

Spent one night and found the staff to be helpful and friendly, and the room was great. However, it was pretty expensive even with discount. Parking for check in was wonky ... it was on street and we had to circle the block until a space was available. it had required valet parking at $16/night.

Deceiving

the Holiday Inn "Charleston Historic" is not actually in the historic district. It is a good mile walk to the district. this is very misleading. Staff was nice, but room had a water drip inside the walls, and when we told the desk about it, they informed us that all the rooms have that due to a construction error. Also, do not eat in the hotel rest. food was mediocre at best.

Sightseeing tip: Long walk from hotel

do not under any circumstances go to any of the "vacation club" presentations. they should be outlawed. After listening to one, recommended by the guy in the visitor center, I checked them out on-line and the word "scam" was used when describing them.

Well located for Historic District and cruise ship terminal

Modern hotel, spacious well maintained and equipped rooms. Good bedding and linen. Helpful and friendly staff. EXCELLENT dining room for breakfast and dinner .Great food. Bar has "happy hour" each afternoon. Hotel is located in Historic District, close to cruise ship terminal and easy walking distance to Charleston Visitors Centre. Also short walk to King Street shops etc. Close to Budget Avis and Enterprise car rental offices/depot. Good value for money. Would happily recommend.

Reasonable stay considering location

Charleston is an relatively expensive venue and this hotel provided reasonable accommodations for the value. Restaurant food was good, but pricey. Breakfast was acceptable, but there are many better restaurants for dinner. Location a little far from downtown. Free city shuttle provides access until 9 pm, but is limited, can be crowded and wait times can be long. Valet parking is relatively expensive considering location. However, overall a reasonable place to stay all things considered.

Perfect location for a getaway

I spent two nights recently for a summer getaway. The hotel is relatively new and located in a section of town that is being revitalized and is convenient to the Visitor Center and only a mile away from the Market and historic churches and majority of the restaurants and shopping. Valet parking is available as is high speed internet. Great place!

Long Weekend

This hotel is amazing. From the second I stepped onto the curb till the opening of the door as I was leaving, the staff was perfect. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The room was amazing, clean, and my patio was perfect. The Meeting Room is fantastic for dining and/or drinks. Big thanks to Jim for being an awesome bartender.

Great service in a nice, new hotel

The Holiday Inn downtown is not actually located downtown. That being said, it was conveniently located enough for me. It's only a 5 minute walk to shopping and dining on King Street, and a 25 minute walk from the action downtown. My room was super comfortable and clean, and the staff was beyond helpful. I highly recommend this very new hotel to anyone visiting Charleston for a weekend trip!

Go to Eli's Table for a delicious late breakfast (served until 11:30 on week days). I would recommend the Sweet Potato pancakes!
