Comfort and a good breakfast!

The hotel was very nice, clean and comfortable. The staff was helpful and friendly and the breakfast selection was good. The room was an average size, but quite clean. The bed was ok. It could have been a bit more comfortable for me. Although it was across the street from the visitors center, I would have liked to be closer to the center of the historic district. It was however within walking distance. Overall, a nice comfortable hotel and Charleston is a great city!

Comfortable and Convenient

The Hampton Inn Historic District was clean and conveniently located to see the sights of Charleston. It is in the upper end of the historic district but since Charleston is a very walkable city, it did not matter. The Visitor Center was right across the street and so was the Charleston Museum. The DASH shuttle stops across the street and there are shops and restaurants within walking distance. A full buffet breakfast is provided and amenities include internet access, a fitness room, and an outdoor pool. All in all, a comfortable experience.

very convenient

The Hampton Inn was an ideal place to stay in Charleston. They had a very friendly staff and the hotel was well-maintained. The continental breakfast and 24 hour a day hot beverage counter was very nice. The visitor center was directly across the street as was a trolley car stop which allowed us to tour the city effortlessly. The neighborhood was also very safe to walk in and was just a short walk to the major avenues.

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

From the Hampton Inn you could walk anywhere in just a short time. We chose to purchase the all-day trolley pass which allowed us to hop on across the street from the hotel and ride to almost any destination in just a matter of ten minutes or less. It was great!

Excellent location for historic district

The Hampton Inn in Charleston's historic district was very comfortable. The management was friendly and helpful. The room was inviting and comfortable. The location is outstanding. The Hampton Inn is across the street from the Visitors Center and right on the trolley line. We parked the car and didn't have to move it except for some restaurants that were not in the historic district, although there were several excellent restaurants within walking distance of the hotel.

My review of Hampton Inn Charleston-Historic District

If you want to be part of the downtown scene, this hotel is ideal...and just a few feet from the main vistor center, where most of the organized tours left, was a godsend. You can walk anywhere. The room was small, but comfy [king bed], and the hot, full breakfast buffet was just wonderful. Wait staff friendly and helpful. Recommend.

perfect tourist location

Location was perfect - easy access from airport and major roads; right across the street from visitors'center -departure point for most city tours - and easy walk to historic district. Charming lobby, clean, very attractive and comfortable rooms (beds and pillows terrific), more than adequate self-serve breakfast and truly gracious staff. Staff went above and beyond allowing a friend who wasn't staying at hotel to stash her bags in their office while we toured the city. I couldn't have been happier with this hotel.
