Great experience

I had a fantastic one night stay. Ive stayed at other premier hotels in the Historic Downtown area of Charleston, but the comfort and class of Francis Marion is a cut above. Very happy with the hotel and its staff.

Nightlife tip: Short walk from hotel

The upper King Street area has awesome places to dine if you don't mind waiting a few minutes for a table and once your done, there are several top notch night clubs in the immediate vicinity. Francis Marion is perfect location to start from.

Fantastic history and architecture

From the minute you enter main lobby, the staff is fantastic. My experience rated with"W" hotels in Manhattan ! Try the " she crab" soup at Swamp Fox. Great location to everything...pack walking shoes for serious shopping!

great location for the price

The hotel is in a good location, close to the Visitor's Center and good restaurants. The room size was fine and the beds were comfortable. It is surprising that the hotel has not updated their bathrooms. Mine was so small that two people could not stand in it at the same time. I had to keep my toiletries in the shower because there was no space to set them down. This was a problem for me.

Loved the location!

Friendly, great staff. Carpeting wet under A/C at window. Numerous college kids using hallway as social room for singing, music, chatting, but respectfully went in rooms when security explained the noise was disturbing other guests. Wonderful concierge & hop-to bell staff. Loved the location!

Francis Marion

Nicely located on King Street near everything. The hotel shows a few signs of lack of maintenance. But, overall, it was clean and well kept. Staff was always available and helpful. Surprisingly, the best dinner I had in Charleston was at the hotel restaurant and it was reasonably priced and the service was, again, excellent. I would definitely recommend the Francis Marion to anyone.

Nice, charming, historic hotel

The best thing about this hotel is the bed. It is in great shape and very comfortable. The lobby is very nice and spacious. The fitness center is rather small and limited, especially for a 4 star hotel. The staff, while efficient, seems a bit cold and snooty for Southerners. While the hotel is located in the heart of downtown, it actually is on the upper edge of the truly historic district. I like this b/c it's in a less touristy area. But Charleston downtown is walkable to wherever. Parking is $16/day or $21/day valet.
