Weekend Get Away

We had beautiful weather in Charleston for quick weekend get away! Hotel staff was helpful and friendly. We had to get the air conditioning turned on and staff was friendly but needed to fix it. Also TV needed repaired but they did do it right away. The only thing that was uncomfortable was the extremely tiny bathroom. Barely enough room to stand in let alone turn around in. Efficient use of space but not comfortable. Location is excellent and the staff friendly and for this reason, we would stay there again.

Enjoyable Stay

The room was comfortable. The location was excellent for walking access to nearby shops and restaurants. I would like to see the access from the parking lot to the hotel improved. That would allow me to go walk down, check-in, and then take my luggage directly to the floor on which I am staying. And this would allow the same access if I drive about town and then comeback to the parking garage during my stay. A simple key swipe would open the door and could pop up a video check to security.

Great Stay For New Year

This was my first time in Charleston and we chose this hotel for its good reviews and for its Southern charm. The rooms were small but very clean and well appointed. The staff were friendly and the hotel bar was nice as well. The location is one of the best things about this hotel as the area around it is experiencing a revival and some of the best new restaurants and shops are opening up around it.

This is the place to stay if you are seeking comfort, class and a great location. The room was spotless and the staff were very helpful and friendly. The bathroom was a bit small but on the whole, awesome room with a great view! Bed was comfy as well.

The Francis Marion is nicely located within walking distance of several attractions. The Swamp Fox resturaunt had excellent food and service. Overall we enjoyed our stay very much.

Very disappointed

Room was dirty and not well maintained. The thermostat was falling off the wall. The floor vents were all bent with floor tiles missing around them. Upgrade to suite turned out to be a conference room with a bedroom. Certainly not the romantic getaway I planned on. I would never stay there again. The restaurant breakfast brunch was barely edible. Very poor overall rating.

A great vacation was had by both.

I wanted a hotel that had character and a location that would for us to walk out of the front door and be in the nightlife. That is what we had and definitely took advantage of. If you are looking for an older building with good character and history in the walls and a nice street to enjoy shopping and food, then this is the place for you.

Just what I was hoping for.

Dripping with history (built during the Roaring 20's) and old world charm, the Francis Marion was just what I was hoping it would be. A grand lobby decorated for the holidays was an unexpected treat. Great location, lovely park across the street, shopping, museums and art galleries within walking distance. Great experience in a very cool town.
