charming getaway

Overall the historic charm of this hotel and location to downtown activities made this a great hotel for the price. However with it being a very old hotel the amenities were more basic and the bathrooms were very small/outdated. The water in the pipes did have a funny smell in the hotel room not sure if its related to old pipes. The free wifi was spotty at times, but cannot complain given it was free.

Pleasant stay in historic hotel

This renovated historic hotel is located close to Charles street and many points of attraction. We stayed in the hotel with our friends and both rooms were comfortable and clean. The parking had plenty of space. Staff is friendly and helpful. I will definitely consider staying in Francis Marion Hotel again.

Perfect location and very good breakfast

Couldn't ask for a better location or price. The hotel is slightly outdated, but the historic charm more than makes up for it. Has a Starbucks in the lobby, fantastic breakfast at the Swamp Fox restaurant and you can walk to everything (the finest shopping, antiques and restaurants in the trendy Upper King district) or take the free and convenient old fashioned trolley to the French Quarter, Rainbow Row, historic open-air market or aquarium. You get a lot for your money here.

Wonderful weekend

Perfect location. Farmers market was just across street. Staff was courteous. Bathrooms are very small but the room was comfortable. Valet was great but during busy checkout they requested we not call ahead for car & we needed to wait for 1/2 hour outside. That was the only bummer. Would certainly recommend this hotel.
