My husband and I stayed here for our one year anniversary. We have stayed at this hotel before and returned again because of ... how much we loved it the first time. It is only 2 blocks from Market Street and one block from King Street. THE PARKING IS FREE! AND they will let you park earlier than check in time and let you keep your car there several hours after check out, which is WONDERFUL considering you have to pay everywhere else to park. It was perfect! We will DEFINITELY return again... hopefully at a little cheaper rate. $260 was worth it though, compared to other places downtown that charge you for everything.

Hyman's Seafood was amazing! Mad River is the best Sports Pub! McCrady's has the best desserts and largest wine selection.

Traveling Tanya Nov 2, 2009
Hotel was in walking distance of all of the downtown attractions, and the staff is friendly & helpful. A pleasant suprise ... was the farmer's market on Saturday in Marion Square. Had a wonderful brunch on the porch at Poogan's Porch. Enjoyed Tommy Dew's walking tour and the tour of the Calhoun Mansion. All of the people we encountered were very friendly. If there was any negative, it would be having to smell the waste from the horses that are pulling the carriage tours, but that will not deter me from making a future trip. A beautiful city!

meanjean Jun 26, 2009
The location was good and was billed as the only downtown hotel with a pool( although small). The hotel was undergoing ... unplanned renovations due to a guest mishap, so we did not get the king room we would have preferred. The friendliness and helpfulness of this quaint boutique hotel made up for everything. The beds and linens were so spectacular,I got the name before I left.I wish I had asked the staff more tour and eating suggestions instead of getting ideas from the internet. Their suggestions were always great. We enjoyed Isle of Palms beach also.

You cannot beat this location. We had a very enjoyable stay, and would definitely stay at the King Charles Inn again. The ... only reason I did not give it a 5 star rating is because of a lack of parking, and no continental breakfast option.

Its a great hotel for the money and convenience to the historic district of Charleston. It's the second time I've stayed and ... would recommend it to anyone looking for comfort, cleanliness and convenience. The only slight downside is the smaller room sizes, but you should be spending more of your time taking in the history just outside your door anyway!

I come to Charleston about six times a year and most of my business is in the downtown area. The location of this property is ... excellent. Free parking and clean rooms are a big plus. Staff is friendly and there is no lack of entertainment and dining in walking distance. Not the fanciest place, but I would also choose this hotel for a weekend with my family.

When I drove up to the ...
Levon Sep 21, 2008
When I drove up to the hotel from the street I had to park in their parking lot. That was tight and one was lucky to find ... parking if you left. Additional parking was across the street. After unloading our luggage and taking it through the awkward entrance upstairs to the front desk I was told to move my car for maintenance. No sign was posted and an employee watched us park. We had to cross the parking lot to get to a small exterior elevator to take up to our room. The room was musty upon entering and the decor was not attractive. There was a balcony with nice rocking chairs if we wanted to enjoy the view of the parking lot and side of the hotel. While resting from a long drive the fire alarm went off. Turned out to be a false alarm. The front desk staff was friendly. They didn't know where a movie theater was and took some time to recommend restaurants. Our last night there we were finally told about a book of restaurants in the lounge area. The maid did not enter our room due to the Do Not Distrub sign left out. When she saw us and did enter she didn't leave any washcloths or enough towels. To add to the experience I knocked by head hard on the way down the stairs from the front desk due to a low hanging overhead. Not good for tall people. I would not recommend this hotel if you want to really feel pampered. The location is great if you just want to save money. When asked how we could have not been placed in a room that we had to cross the parking lot to get to we were told to ask not to be on the 4th floor. Who knew?

Cafe 225 is a great restaurant and a nice walk from the hotel. It is expensive and the hotel did help us make a reservation. There are many restaurants in walking distance. Hyman's though famous seemed cheap to me.

Joseph Aug 27, 2008
The King Charles Inn-Best Western was very comfortable> The room seemed much larger than most with a desk area and a table ... and two chairs. They ungraded the rooms at no cost so that my son and his family's room could be next to my room and that could not be accomplished with the standard rooms. The location was excellent, right in the middle of downtown, and the staff extremely helpful. Will definitely stay there again when we visit Charleston.
