Great Location
Its a great hotel for the money and convenience to the historic district of Charleston. It's the second time I've stayed and would recommend it to anyone looking for comfort, cleanliness and convenience. The only slight downside is the smaller room sizes, but you should be spending more of your time taking in the history just outside your door anyway!

Pleased!
My husband and I stayed here for our one year anniversary. We have stayed at this hotel before and returned again because of how much we loved it the first time. It is only 2 blocks from Market Street and one block from King Street. THE PARKING IS FREE! AND they will let you park earlier than check in time and let you keep your car there several hours after check out, which is WONDERFUL considering you have to pay everywhere else to park. It was perfect! We will DEFINITELY return again... hopefully at a little cheaper rate. $260 was worth it though, compared to other places downtown that charge you for everything.

Pefect location for college, shops, restaurants. Well appointed freshly decorated, All staff were sharp and quick to respond. Nice little bar/ happy hour and breakfast. Have paid more in Charleston for much less quality. Very pretty rooms, comfortable and clean.

Three Day Getaway
This was our first time in Charleston. Hotel location is perfect for access to Historic District. Free on-site parking makes this a desirable hotel for automobile travelers. All other hotels I looked into have significant charges for on-site or valet parking. Municipal parking is not that convenient or inexpensive. Rooms are very nicely decorated. The staff are all very fiendly and attentive, but a few seemed to lack local knowledge helpful to visitors. We will defnitely stay there again and recommend it.

So many attractive restaurants, both elegant and casual, it's hard to make a choice. Mercato is excellent and has live (not loud) jazz every evening.

Incredible location for downtown sights
The location of the Best Western King Charles Inn is perfect. My boyfriend and I were able to walk to the City Market, King Street, Queen Street, the South Carolina Aquarium, the Maritime Center, the Civil War Museum, the Charleston Visitor's Center, and all surrounding areas with ease. Many great restaurants and shops are located on King Street and in the City Market, and three of the most popular downtown restaurants are located right on Meeting Street near the hotel: Hyman's Seafood, FIG, and Jestine's Kitchen. Also, taxi and shuttle services are very familiar with the hotel's location and arrive within minutes. If you drive, the hotel has complimentary underground parking for your vehicle. King Charles Inn offers complimentary internet and printing, with two available computers on the second floor [in case you need to purchase and print off some Zerve or Aquarium tickets ;)]. The hotel also offers complimentary tea, coffee, and water on the second floor all day, and there is a Manager's Reception daily around 5 p.m. where you can nosh on complimentary cheese, crackers, fruit, and cookies. However, the King Charles breakfast is not complimentary, but the prices are reasonable. This is one change that I would make. I think the hotel should at least offer a complimentary selection of fruit and muffins during the breakfast service. The King Charles staff is very friendly and very helpful. The hotel is always clean, and the maid service for our room was exceptional. Not once did we have to ask for extra shampoo, soap, or towels. Even when we left a little late, they still got to our room. The people at the front desk could always answer our questions about directions, restaurants, reservations, shuttles, taxis, and the like. Upon check-in, we were given several maps of the downtown area without prompting. Every time we would enter the hotel after a long day, the staff warmly greeted us. Even after we had checked out, the staff stored our bags while we waited for the airport shuttle. The layout of the hotel is great. The pool is located outdoors on the second floor, concealed from the street. It's very clean and very aesthetically pleasing, even at night. Seating and tables are available around the pool as well. All of the rooms are located on the second and third floors. The first floor contains the hotel lobby/front desk. When using the elevator, you will have to go to the second floor and down the small flight of stairs to access the front desk. The first floor indicated on the elevator takes you to the complimentary parking. Our room was perfect for us. The beds were incredibly comfortable, and the bathroom was newly remodeled (the shower was to die for). The cable channel selection was great, and the complimentary wireless internet worked flawlessly. Also, the 18th century inspired decor was pleasing, nothing tacky at all. The lighting was nice as well. Overall, our stay was exceptional. I highly recommend this hotel; in fact, this is the only hotel I would consider booking in Charleston from now on.

Short walk from hotel
Jestine's Kitchen, which is right up Meeting Street from the hotel, has fantastic food with generous portions at great prices. They do not take reservations, but the wait for a table is not long at all. Also, if you're interested in purchasing a sweetgrass basket from the City Market, the best time to go is when the ladies are packing up. You'll get a good deal. They're very friendly people, just don't take pictures of them until you buy something.

A great place to stay
Took a tour of the area to see all areas of interest. Then walked or took the free trolley back to areas we wanted to explore some more. Went to James Island County Park only 20 minutes by car to see the 3 mile Christmas light display, great ride. No restaurant in the hotel, but not needed so many great restaurants within walking distance.
