Great Location in Historic Charlestown

The Best Western King Charles Inn was so conviently located in the historic walking area of Charlestown. Had a nice Pool/patio area in which to relax, and the best restaurants were very close by. The room was clean. We were surprised however, when someone else had been given an electronic key card which opened the door to our room. I believe a new person was training at the desk and made the mistake of coding the key incorrectly.

Great Location

The best thing I can say is the location is perfect for exploring the historic district. We arrived on Saturday and checked out on Monday which was a good thing because they are doing major renovations. Fortunately, the construction work was not being done on the weekend. I can see where it would be a major inconvenience during the week. The room was small and the furniture was large. We couldn't get the cart with the baggage in the room and close the door. The staff were OK but really did not do much to make you feel welcome. If you are looking for a clean room and a good location and don't plan on spending lots of time at the hotel itself, this is a good option.

Renovations but good

The hotel is currently undergoing renovations which are slated to end in March. Keep that in mind as the main elevator may be out as well as other changes. Two of the outlets were not working at the time. I dealtwith it,but keep it in mind. Location is downtown is perfect. Breakfast is good but a bit pricey. Though there are not that many breakfast options in this area, they should consider makin this free in the future. Stick Fingers on the corner is a good BBQ. Pool is small but ok considering you are surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean and therefore can have a real swimming experience. Fitness option is a pass to the club around the corner which is nice. Go to the Charleston Crab House and the Southern Belle.

Will have to take a little stroll up King St to get things you may have forgotten. There is a mini mart about a block from the Market, 5 blocks from the hotel.

Great location, great stay!

You cannot beat this location. We had a very enjoyable stay, and would definitely stay at the King Charles Inn again. The only reason I did not give it a 5 star rating is because of a lack of parking, and no continental breakfast option.

WOULD STAY HERE AGAIN

The location was good and was billed as the only downtown hotel with a pool( although small). The hotel was undergoing unplanned renovations due to a guest mishap, so we did not get the king room we would have preferred. The friendliness and helpfulness of this quaint boutique hotel made up for everything. The beds and linens were so spectacular,I got the name before I left.I wish I had asked the staff more tour and eating suggestions instead of getting ideas from the internet. Their suggestions were always great. We enjoyed Isle of Palms beach also.

Good location, great room

A dinner buffet would have been nice. Also, bar hours that lasted longer. This would have added to the comfortable stay, especially after spending all day sightseeing.
