Great stay in Charleston
In spite of the freezing temps we loved Charleston. Anchorage in great location. Walked along water and to the aquarium, loved the Charleston museum. I was a little creeped out by the "cavelike" feeling in the windowless room. Good breakfast, nice wine and cheese daily and super internet on house computer. Will definately come back and request room with a window!

Anchorage Inn, Charleston SC
Perfect location on E. Bay St and Vendue Range by the bay. Short walk to Market St. or the Battery. Staff arranged transportation and were helpful. Historic Cotton Warehouse converted to a clean and pleasant B&B. The internet was free with Connections in the room, WiFi and a stand alone computer in the lobby. The only two complains I had were that the in room connection only had a 3ft cable which made it hard to use and on my last day they missed my 5 am wake up call but there is an alarm in the room which woke me up. The B&B is in the middle of the tourist area surrounded by shops, resturants and tourist agencies which make it perfect for the person that wants to relax but also see the sights.

Money-saving tip:
In Hotel
While staying here you don't need to rent a vehicle but if you need one they arranged for my transportation with PrimeTime Charleston which was private limo service in a Continental at less than taxi service. It was 13% less to the airport but then distance makes a difference.

A Pleasant Stay
A very comfortable experience. Met very nice people at the wine and cheese hour. So nice to get away from the usual non personal hotel/motel routine. Everything was in short walking distance. We,along with our friends, intend to do it again next year!

Disappointed stay
We arrived at the Inn at about 1:00 to see if our room might be ready but no one was at the front desk and no one could be found while walking around the 1st floor. My husband found a cleaning woman on the 2nd floor and she finally found the woman working at the front desk. We were told our room was not ready but she would hold our luggage. We wanted to change our clothes so she explained where the bathrooms were for us to change in. When my husband and I returned from the bathrooms the front desk person had disappeared again. We put our luggage in our car and walked around for a few hours. When we returned at 4:00 we were told that our room was right next to the front end desk. We asked if we could have a room upstairs and were told that the last guest had just requested a room change and there were no more rooms available. I was awoken both mornings we stayed at the Inn not by another guest but by the person at the front desk making noise. I was also disappointed that the rugs were very worn in our room, the bathroom vents were a little rusty and the pillow cases and or pillows and comforter had a dirty/unclean smell. I definitely would not stay there again and would not recommend the place.

Very Nice!!!!!
Location great, within walking distance of the Market area and the river. Fantastic staff! Complimentary wine/cheese in afternoon, along with nightcap sherry and great breakfast. Loved the rooms! Except the upstairs front room was noisy late night because the open air deck bar across the street. Evidently a popular bar, a line formed to get in around 9 and they partied until about 3am. No hotel restaurant or bar...though there are many within a block of the hotel.

great location but just "ehh"
my flight was early and the hotel was kind enough to let me check in early, as the room was already prepared. it has a cute old feel to it with a library, but the room decor is so dingy, as well as some of the bed linens. the carpet was pretty gross, as well and probably has never been cleaned. the location is excellent, which is what you are paying for. it's right on the water and every evening before turning in it was nice to take i a breezy stroll out on the pier. it's within walking distance to numerous sites and great restaurants. The staff is friendly and the hotel was generally very quiet. however, there is a noisy bar a couple doors down and late night raucous from outdoor smokers and revelers did travel up to my room, which faced the street. the noise did not keep me up, though.

Charming place to stay
The Anchorage in Charleston, SC was a great place to stay. Staff was extremely friendly and you can't beat the location, being a short walking distance for almost everything in the historic district. Only criticism would be that there is no coffee or refrigerator in the room BUT the complimentary breakfast was better than most restaurants. Wine and cheese in the afternoon and sherry in the evening are very nice touches. The rooms and public areas are beautifully appointed. Would definitly consider staying here again.
