A departure from the everyday.
I wish there were more hotels like this one. Awesome modern ammenities and decor, reasonable price for the location. As a former hotel manager, this would be a dream property for me. It is a bit to casual on the uniforms and it made it hard to identify people that worked there. A each associate wore a polo shirt with a logo, but no standardize color. few minor faults. Frosted glass partition was awesome design but made for an awkward room sharing. A/C struggled to keep room cool until the sun went down. My room had a little noise from elevator. I was ok, but if you are a light sleeper, request the end of the hall.

There is a small convenience store at the front desk where you can buy snacks and sundries. They are not free, but reasonably priced. Showers have super high end shampoo and bath gel. Travel light leave shampoo and soap at home.

I like the aloft chain. The man who checked us in was very friendly but the lady who checked us out seemed like she didn't care at all. The power went out the morning we checked out so the elevators were down and there was no hot water. The hotel made no attempt to compensate us. I still like the hotel chain. They have the nicest beds.

I arrived at the hotel and the front staff (ANDREW) was such a great help. I had a great time and would stay there again. It is very modern and upscale. The staff was such a pleasure to be around. Location was perfect and I felt safe. The grounds were very clean.

This is a fun hotel! Very organized and Euro. It is next to the airport so you do hear the airplanes. But the service to the airport, shuttle was excellent! Very clean.

great place
This hotel was wonderful for a weekend getaway. The hotel was at a convenient location. Shopping was only seconds away which we loved! It was also very close to the highway and made it easy to get to downtown charleston and the beach.

Customers using travel agencies to book reservations are invisible to this company
The Aloft is Starwood properties' answer to the Hyatt Place and Hilton's Home 2. The rooms were painted a DEPRESSING shade of blue. Just think of the sky before a storm. There u go. The rooms were dark even with both windows open. Most hotels give you complimentary toiletries: aloft gives you lotion and a bar of soap. No shampoo or conditioner. Drive 10 minutes to Walmart at the shopping center (a plus to be close to Walmart). The breakfast is a mini-buffet but there is a charge. You should go across the street to Panera bread. Many eateries around so no worries there. The shower was in an awkward position. I guess you must see for yourself but at least there was plenty of hot water. Concierge cart for bags requires you squeeze the handle the entire time that you are pushing the cart. I had to help an older woman to her room because there was no bellman around to help her. I even felt a bit stiff-wristed after having to squeeze the handle the whole way to my room. Weird device. Huge lobby and sitting area outside. Great for small business sessions. My experience: Unfortunately, this hotel does not measure up to the quality customer service provided by Hyatt and Hilton brands. I booked my reservation using an online travel agency (ie Expedia, Orbitz). The hotel only honors bookings made through their website to earn SPG points unlike Hyatt or Double Tree brands who are honored that you selected their hotel in the first place so they give you points. Additionally, if you would like a print out a review of your room charges, they will impolitely remove the folio from your hands because as the Aloft stated 'your contract is with Orbitz and not with us'. Call Orbitz for your bill they said...NEXT Customer in line please. Wow. I was apparently not worthy of their ink or white paper. I called their corporate phone number to complain as to how I was treated by the front desk associate who apparently was disgusted that someone mistakenly gave me a reciept so she rudely took it from me and would not return it. Even a customer behind me in line was perplexed by the woman's attitude toward me. I received the same second-class service from their corporate offices 'sorry, you booked through orbitz so I can't even review or acknowledge that you even stayed here' (I bet if a lampshade was broken they would produce my record). Anyway, no dice on the Aloft brand. Hyatt Place is closer to the convention center, a 2 minute WALK across parking lot vs 5 min drive to the convention center (no need to fight for parking). PLUS: Hyatt Place has an amazingly, satisfying complimentary continental breakfast that the Aloft would have charged you for. The Aloft breakfast selection was not even that great and was pricey. Hyatt Place is a better bet if you have a choice (especially if you desire plush bedding). Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere because apparently the Aloft may not be aligned with the quality customer care that you would receive at the Hyatt. (I recommend Hyatt due to it's close comparison in size and amenities to the Aloft. Also, i booked one room at Aloft and one at Hyatt for the week for a conference and ended up feeling jipped that i didn't get both rooms at the Hyatt for obvious reasons)

Short walk from hotel
If you are attending an event at the convention center, book at the Hyatt Place instead. It is a 2 minute walk to convention center from their lobby. Plus, you don't have to fight for parking or pay.

Good value, great location
We stayed here for a four day weekend and drove into the city and down to the beach. It was a great location for both - easy access to I-26. The hotel itself was clean and clean-looking with modern lines and decor. If you're looking to stay in North Charleston, this hotel is a fun, unique alternative to the other hotels in the area, for around the same price. Some details: The bathroom was a fun change to the traditional hotel bathrooms - one tiled room with a toilet and shower. The only downsides were that the water tended to end up on the entire bathroom floor after a shower and the sliding door to the room didn't come close to sealing - the wide opening was strategically placed so anyone outside the bathroom could see the toilet. Maybe not ideal if you're looking for privacy, but otherwise a fun novelty. The hotel staff desk is a small circular desk in the middle of the lobby. Every time we passed the desk, there was only a single person working the desk, seemingly overworked. We waited in a short line every time we needed to talk to them. Beds are comfortable. They are platform beds, so much lower to the ground than normal hotel beds. There is also a nice courtyard area that was great for enjoying breakfast or an evening drink.
