Scary

The room was adequately clean, although obviously not fancy. However, the environment was pretty scary. A police substation was built into the hotel, and there seemed to be a constant patrol of police cars from the time we were there until we left. When we checked in after midnight, multiple people watched us drive through the parking lot, suggesting to me that there was drugs or other illicit activity happening at the hotel. The front desk was friendly enough and helped me find the hotel, because its location wasn't obvious from the road. We drove by several times before we actually found the access road, and even then it was difficult to see. Overall, I'd suggest spending a few more dollars for a reputable place where you can feel safe.

not to pleased

We came into town for a graduation at Fort Jackson. A dear friend of ours will now be stationed here and we will certainly not chose this location again. Our first room was a smoking room; we are non smokers. The room reeked of horrible attempts to disguise the smell, our shower curtain had mold on it and smelled horribly. Appeared to be people who lived here, they were creepy. Our only comfort in that was there is a police sub station located in the front building. The beds were very hard. During the day while we were at the pool the air traffic (this location is near an airport) was light and was mostly small aircraft. After about 8 the jets got larger and louder making it almost impossible to sleep for more than 30 min intervals. The staff was very friendly and moved us to a non smoking room the 2nd night, which smelled much better, still hard beds. ZERO ELECTRICAL OUTLETS. We had to unplug the fridge and microwave to charge our phones and laptop. Even the plugs provided near the vanity would not work unless we left the lights on all night. Rooms could use a fresh coat of paint, AC did not efficiently cool our 2nd room. Bathroom is tiny and had no exhaust fan, making showering a terrible experience.Really the only good things about this location were the pool and very friendly staff. Still not enough to convince us to return in the fall. [...]

AmericaSpeaks Trip in Columbia, SC

While the room was clean and the price was right, it was obviously a smoking room that was now being filled as a non-smoking room. The smell was terrible. They gave us a spray deoderizer but it worked only for a few minutes ... and they had no other room to put us in. I have allergies and the next morning my face and eyes were extremely swollen. The person in the office indicated he had only been working there a short time and did not know if the room was previoulsy a smoking room.

Low Budget

The general appearance of the room was "threadbare" and it was not clean. The bedspreads needed to be retired a long time ago, and my feet were sticking to the tile in the bathroom. Three bathroom tiles were cracked with pieces missing, and you could easily cut your foot on the edges. The room smelled of stale smoke, but was a smoke free room. Police were circling the parking lot all night; don't know if that was good or bad. It seems that a lot of worker types will rent rooms here by the week. Clientele was rough. Staff was friendly at least. Avoid this place if you can.
