Work related stay
I stayed at this hotel when I was in Aiken for work. The stay was fine. The room was clean but the AC unit did not get very cold and the shower valve needed work. The shower valve was so hard to work that I thought I was going to break it just turning it on. If a woman had stayed in that room she would not have been physically able to turn it on it was that hard.

Don't stay at Howard Johnson"s Hotel in Aiken SC
The hotel was very old and dirty. Staff (when I saw any) were very rude and didn't speak english. The room smelled musty and old. Bathroom was dirty. Towels (when we found them) thin and looked used. TV remote control didn't work. TV connection was not something from the 50's, snowy..and unclear. There is a football stadium next door..game going on all night...and could hear every call being made. Random people wandering in parking lot some of which were picking the flowers out of the landscaping. Other roamers were just walking around staring at us. VERY SCAREY PLACE>

Never Again
The shower handle in my first room came off in my hand. After convincing the staff that it was not my fault, I received a second room. This one was modestly clean with the exception of, again, the bathroom, which had pieces coming off the wall. The location is ok if you need to get to the mall, downtown or Savannah River Site, but the place on the whole lacks any feeling of security. Oh, and the free breakfast is awful. The best option I could manage was a single bite of stale cereal with questionably warm milk. Not only will I not return to this hotel, I will strive to never stay in a Howard Johnson again.

Pleasantly surprised
I was attending a Masters' practice round. The rate was one of the best that I found. But the cleanliness and service provided was much better than I expected. Plus the convenience of two places to eat--one Mexican and one Japanese that were both excellent--just across the street proved extremely handy.

Not Applicable
The best way to get to the Masters is from the SC side from Aiken through downtown Augusta. There is definitely less traffic.

Nothing great
Although the room was clean, the acoustic ceiling was falling off. The towel bars & other fixtures were not very secure (not good for a handicapped room). Stayed here for the Masters Golf tourney, expected to go swimming, will not be back!

Aiken Howard Johnson Stay
The motel was convenient to Augusta, Georgia. We were at the Masters and found this hotel to be ideally located. The rates were competitive and the room was clean. We enjoyed our stay very much.

It not that bad!
The front desk attendant was very nice. She answered any questions and was very helpful. The room though wasn't so clean. I got the room for the jacuzzi but it appeared to be dirty. I never even got into it. I might as well had gotten a regular room and saved about thirty dollars. But point blank I guess I would recommend the hotel because for the price I guess it was ok the bed was comfortable but if the tub wasn't clean you have to wonder about the sheets :(
