Modern Chic in Suburbia

This hotel is absolutely beautiful! You feel like you're in the middle of Manhattan. Each room has a Keurig which is so convenient. Also, I recommend the King Glass Loft, it's beautiful and keeps the room cool.

Beautiful, trendy, clean hotel

I thought the hotel was wonderful. The staff was nice. The hotel was clean. It had a trendy look to it. The location was great. There is a mall across the street with everything from Target to Macy's there.

There is a cute lounge in the hotel. Perfect place for a nightcap or some wine to catch up with friends. It was not crowded so you were able to relax and enjoy the company you came with.

Unique modern hotel

I love this hotel and would reccommend it to anyone staying in the Providence area. It is super modern and clean and the bed is incredibly comfortable. Compared to other hotels in this price range, NYLO is the one to beat. The room has the feel of an upscale loft with cement walls and exposed brick and is very warm and cozy. The lobby has a great area to relax with a huge book and game selection and the restaurant is nice too. There is a great patio hanging over the river, which is delightful in the summertime. Looking forward to going back. The one negative was that the air was incredibly dry.....I think I drank 5 bottles of water that night. I might bring a mini-humidifier with me next time.

Cool decor but missed the mark in a couple areas...

When calling hotel before our stay to ask follow up questions, the staff seemed a bit dismissive and eager to get on to the next call; they were also unsure of some of my questions and seemed uninterested in finding the answer for me (as well as giving outright wrong info) The hotel is somewhat easy to find near the Warwick Mall, however the immediate neighborhood seems a bit sketchy... Abandoned business on the corner, across the street nearby duplexes with a couple "dudes" hanging on the corner listening to loud music, and the hotel is adjacent to a run-down, abandoned mill building (NYLO itself is a restored building) ... Parking lot is also across the street instead of adjacent, maybe escort the ladies?. The outside of the building of the NYLO is very clean, however and well restored. When checking in, the clerk immediately noted I had booked through this site (why should that make a difference?); and seemed to proceed to tell me it would be $50 EXTRA for the night because of it; what she actually was saying after clarification is that $50 is held in reserve on card for incidentals; um... okaaaay... very offputting however and I get the feeling they are treating you like a second-class guest knowing you are booking from here; penalized for being a smart consumer :-/ We had gotten a king loft room overlooking the river; not a great view, and the bed is set apart from the window because of the heating/ac unit in between. But the bed was big and comfy, and a convenient TV on a swivel with HDMI input was available. Wi-Fi was a bit spotty but generally available. There was only one water and four K-cups for the coffee maker in the room (though one was tea and another decaf - useless to me, so really one cup each for me and my gf). No fridge in the room, oddly (available "on request")... Walls are grey, weathered concrete all around, a little shabby, but brightened up with interesting "avant garde" decor... The LOFT restaurant was mostly good but missed the mark a little bit; odd director style chairs with cheesy glass tabled filled with seashells(?) and a bit of a loud atmosphere/music to have any kind of romantic dinner.. (nearby TV tuned to some CSI show with sound down; got to see a burning guy during dinner - yay!; we asked them to turn it off). But the bar was cool and other nice touches in the decor. The service in restaurant was prompt, though they were having a 4-course "prix fix" menu for the weekend we stayed which might account for that. The "special dessert", a so-called fondue fell flat on its face unfortunately - cold chocolate sauce with odd accompaniments, like tasteless apples, overripe bananas, halved hostess donuts, dried apricots, graham crackers and other weirdness.. Um.. strawberries? Hello? We noted our objection to our server who did bring us some strawberries and offered something else which we declined. Overall it was a unique experience, a bit unpolished in some ways; I think the service could have been a little more attentive in some areas, and the loft rooms seem smallish, but efficiently layed out and interesting decor... Some of my slight dissatisfaction was mitigated by the fact I was able to save on booking through this site; I would recommend booking *IF* you can get decent price - it is indeed a unique experience, me and gf had fun with it :-)
