Great location for all of Providence
Weekend traveler Sep 22, 2009
When arriving at the hotel we were pleased that we were able to check in early and had been upgraded to a suite. ... Unfortunately, the suite had 2 queen beds rather than the king we wanted in the smaller room. Despite that, everyone at the hotel was very pleasant and accommodating even when we forgot our room key twice! Would definitely stay again. Loved that it was on Winchester Street, one of the nicer streets in downtown Providence and convenient to everything too!

Hotel Providence Bumped Us Last Minute
Buffalo Gal Sep 7, 2009
The night before our arrival, Hotel Providence bumped us to its sister property, The Biltmore, three blocks away. The Orbitz ... rep who called to tell me of the change stated that Hotel Providence/Biltmore management controlled its own properties and moved people around accordingly. Orbitz should note this on the website. At the Biltmore, our bed sagged badly in the middle and there was no hair dryer and the staff said they didn't have any more(!) Our room was small, dark and noisy (directly across from the elevators). The valet service had trouble locating our car keys or our car (we never did know which) and we stood outside for more than a half an hour waiting for resolution. I don't like being bumped at the last minute but if the Biltmore had been a decent property it would have been fine. The combination of a bad bed, no hair dryer, confused valet service and friendly but ineffective staff says I can't recommend the Biltmore and won't choose to stay there again. And I will not try to book Hotel Providence through a third party again.

Finally had a good--Great!--breakfast on the way out of town, rec. by front desk staff. The Downcity Diner was fantastic. Also had fabulous Korean food at Sun and Moon--a cab ride--and Al Forno--a cab ride--DON'T believe the advice that it's an easy walk from the Providence Hotel.

We ate at a restaurant called Al Forno and it was incediible...they do not take reservations so I suggest getting there on the early side.

Worst-Ever Hotel Restaurant
collegetour2009 May 10, 2009
In Providence for a long weekend to visit RISD, I booked this hotel through a package with Orbitz. Never again. The Orbitz ... charge was double the hotel price offered (within 4 hours of booking) and Orbitz was unconcerned. The hotel restaurant food was absolutely awful. We tried it for lunch and breakfast. The location was ok, but we were misled about the walking time and route to two destinations. Other than that, front desk staff was the only real plus--ok, the bed was pretty nice (in a small, rather dirty room).

Excellent place to call home while on the road!

The owners have transforem what was once a furniture story to a great hotel. If you like 'modern, you will not want to stay ... here. This is a historical with modern utilities; classic in renovation; beautiful design and art work; well designed sleeping rooms; quiet and restful. Excellent staff- are very quick to respond and assist. In town, near all that you would want for enjoying the historic areas of Providence. Next to a smaal city pocket park. The adjoining restaurant served excellent food and a great waitstaff.

wonderful stay, but loud
Katherine Feb 24, 2008
Absolutely loved the Hotel Providence. Everything about it was beautiful and user friendly. The staff were amazing- every ... person who I encountered working there was extremely friendly, helpful and accommodating. The room was lovely- and the bed incredibly comfortable. The bathroom also- spacious and beautiful. Robes and large plush towels, and complimentary shoe shine service- all the amenities. Everything that could be controlled by the staff was perfect. The hotel was so great that it was still an enjoyable stay inspite of the noise (there was also quite a bit of noise in the evening from the street bellow).

Beautiful boutique hotel
Bridget Jul 28, 2007
The Hotel Providence was beautiful! We have 4 month old twins so we needed a night of uninterupted sleep. That's what we ... got! Eight glorious hours of sleep in a very comfortable king size bed with soft sheets. The staff were efficient and friendly. We didn't stay long enough to enjoy the amenities however.
