Holel Providence
We simply wanted to attend the theater and spend a night away from home. The Providence Hotel was perfect! T he room was beautifully furnished, the service was excellent. It was a one block walk to the theater. After the show we were sitting in the lounge enjoying a snack and looking out on the courtyard while others were sitting in a traffic jam on the way home. It was a lovely little vacation and we will stay there again.

Great Staff, Possibly Rough Location
The staff was excellent. Super friendly and helpful. If you are used to living in a city and downtown dynamics, you won't regret your stay. However, if you are from a small town or used to living in the suburbs, I can see how you might be concerned with some of the characters that hang around in neighboring streets as well as the noise from the street. Having said that, I would stay there again. I love living in the city with its diversity and ability to walk to entertainment and dining options. I was in Providence for a conference at the Westin, but couldn't get a room there. The Hotel Providence worked out great with a reasonable rate and less than 5 minutes walking distance to the Westin. There is a very reliable airport shuttle for $11 each way. It leaves from the airport every hour on the hour. Buy your ticket from the booth in the north baggage claim area and proceed out the doors. Use the crosswalk to pass the first lane and turn right where the taxi cabs are. The shuttle stops right in front of the cabs to the right. The shuttle leaves the hotel at 23 minutes past the hour.

Boutique hotel in Providence
Charming boutique in an old, renovated building. Enjoyed the high ceilings and spacious rooms. Amenities within rooms very comfortable. Elevator, floor plan clearly had to compromise with the original design of the older building. Neighborhood is very mixed. On one side is the Providence Art District, but three doors down is a recovery center for folks on the down and out. If you don't mind walking around the guys hanging out on the sidewalk, the hotel is appealing and fairly priced.

Wedding Weekend
I was in Providence for a wedding at Brown and needed a cheap but nice room to share with a friend, and this was perfect. Convenient, comfy bed. Also a couple of elliptical machines and stuff down in the basement. It was my first time to stay in downtown Ptown and a pleasure.

Interesting experience
Upon arrival we were told the hotel was overbooked and they could send us to Warwick (1/2 hour away). We stayed at this hotel so we could walk around town for Water Fire. To top it off, one of the people in our party had even confirmed the rooms the day before. After a little heated discussion by one of our companions, we had our rooms. I must say we had a terrible time finding the place, but [...] at the front desk was wonderful on the phone guiding very patiently. We had paid an addition $30 for an upgrade from the standard room, but received only the standard room that was on the second floor (but this is believe it or not a basement room). The toilet was plugged when we got to the room and there was only one towel. With all of this, I cannot say enough about the staff - they were all very polite and helpful.

We ate at Nouvo and it was fabulous. I suggest making reservations as we had none and were extremely lucky to get in...did not get a seat until after 9:30 however and finally finished at midnight.
