Beautiful but ordinary

The hotel was clean and well maintained. The room was comfortable. The staff was very pleasant. The amenities were sparce. No free wi-fi. A cup of coffee was oer $2. Parking for two days was over $50, plus tips. There didn't seem to be anything that said, "This is what we do to get your business."

Missing Amenities

If you're looking for a clean room, very nice room then this is for you. This hotel had no amenities. Let me explain, it had one restaurant that served breakfast, lunch and dinner and the food wasn't that great. When you get into the room there wasn't any information about Providence and one simple rather used information-less brochure about the hotel. Information was rather sparse. The Westin right down the street had more to offer for the same price than this hotel. It was connected to the mall and had several eating options and a plethora of information, free water and ample staff waiting to help you in their lobby as well; and I wasn't even a guest. Sorry Renaissance other than great rooms the Westin beat you at every turn.

Great hotel

The hotel was not only very visually appealing, but the customer service was just as stellar. This hotel originally erected as a Masonic temple by the free masons just prior to the great depression. The masons were unable to complete the building and it sat incomplete until the Marriott took it over a few years ago. Not only was the hotel beautiful but a nice piece of history to match. The hotel sits seconds away from the heart of Downtown Providence with spectacular views of the capital. enjoy!

The good, the bad, and the really ugly

The employees were friendly and helpful with ideas to go. Staff was ok at arrival. We inquired as to how business was going we were told they were about 48% occupancy. The hotel boast view of the capital. We were then assigned to a room that over looked a parking lot. As we arrive to our room there were empty glasses on the floor outside our room and hallway in need of vacuuming. When the bellhop left glasses were STILL there even though we commented on how bad it looked. They were removed 24 hours later. Not a 4 star move. I expect the hallway and floor to be clean. Never heard a vacuum whole time I was there for 4 days. Our shower door leaked massively. We used all our towels except what was needed to dry ourselves on floor for each shower because we kept slipping on the beautiful tile floor. I told the front desk and they supplied 3 more towels one day! Still a mess on day we left. Have 2 pairs of pants that need dry cleaning due to getting soaked on the tile floor while preparing to go out. This was extremely annoying since we were in there area for family celebrations. Temple restaurant looked nice . We stopped for a quick drink and staff was exceptionally nice staff who assisted with reservations for dinner. Suggested going to them for advise. Aesthetics look good but does not fit a all around 4 star experience.

An Architectural Gem

Overall we enjoyed our stay at this hotel. However, beware there is only off site valet parking which was expensive and inconvenient. Staff were friendly and helpful. It is a beautiful old building which has been restored and is within walking distance of the Providence Mall, the downtown core, the train station, the east side and some good restaurants. There is no pool or hot tub but a nice gym. We found the mattress was too firm.

Simply Fabulous

This hotel was a real good find. I was a little skeptical cause it was so new still, but OMG , what a gem! Staff was so incredibly friendly, the rooms were awesome. Very quiet. Very clean. And the Temple bar and grill downstairs was great food and a to die for drink menu. We were so happy here we'd definately recommend to others and even consider going back if we could. Many attractions close by within walking distance which was nice too.

A jewel in Providence

I chose to stay here to unwind after a business meeting in Providence. What a treat. Glorious older building, tastefully remodelled. Quiet rooms, with nice amenities. The on site restaurant is quite fun and has an intriguing menu. Very reasonably priced for the quality.
