wyndham on the harbor
Our condo was great in the way we had a great harbor view. the sunsets were spectacular.Housekeeping was good and rooms clean.Most things to do were very close.Very enjoyable stay.

Most things to do are very close to this hotel. We biked or walked to most places including the mansions and Fort Adams.We took the ferry from Fort Adams to Block Island and back.

No welcome upon arrival, room nice.
The staff member at the front desk didn't bother to look away from her paperwork upon my arrival. I was told to wait until she was done. I was also referred to as "the one that booked last minute". This person then told me my room would have to be changed in the morning. Of course I was not notified at the time of booking, but only upon arrival. The registration took forever and the woman was just plain cold and nasty. When my wife and I entered our room it was not made up, the bed and bathroom were used. We came back down and waited another 15 minutes for another room. At that time I was asked to move my car, the hotel has limited parking and asks you to double and triple park and leave your keys a the front desk. The next morning we were made to register to get another room, the staff person (much nicer woman, but not well trained) took about 20 minutes to do the paperwork, and we weren't given a room until about two hours later. We were out at lunch, so we didn't mind. When we returned we were given the keys to our new room, when we got to the room the keys didn't work. I went back to the desk and waited another 5 minutes for new keys. This is all 100% true. To be fair some of the staff were very nice and helpful. The man in the members lounge was very friendly and helpful. The location was great. The roof desk was very nice. The owner of the restaurant on the ground floor was very nice as well. Newport is great, the people everywhere are so friendly and everyone is eager to make your time there as good as it can be. But beware the poorly trained staff and the "debbie downer" desk woman.

A Room with a View
Excellent property if you want to be in the heart of downtown Newport. The Manager who checked us in was friendly and knowledgeable. The rooms are condo style with living room, kitchen (with everything from pots and pans to a blender), bedroom and bathroom. The harbor view rooms have a wall of glass in living room which afford a beautiful view of Newport harbor. Can watch sail boats, yachts and cruise ships come and go. TV in living room and bedroom, free wifi access, free parking. Location is in the middle of the action on Thames. Easy walk to mansions and all attractions. No room service, but restaurants and bars within feet of this property. Staff was friendly and helpful. Check-in and check-out were simple and quick. I would try to book here again.

Exceptional in all aspects.
Can't beat the location of this resort condominium/hotel. The location alone saved us $20-25 per day in parking fees. We only used our car to drive to the beaches -- everything else was within walking distance. The hotel personnel were very helpful and friendly, and the maid service was great.

Restaurant Bouchard is the quintessential neo-classical French restaurant. As a chef, I rarely gush about a dining experience, but when I am in Newport again, I will definitely make the time to dine a Bouchard's.

Great downtown location!
My husband and I came to Newport for the Chowder Festival and to visit the mansions and wineries. Since we know parking is difficult and we enjoy the local restaurants, we read the reviews and checked into the Wyndham because of its free downtown parking. Although it did get noisy late at night, it was the weekend after all. Rooftop deck great for sunset pictures and overall view of the harbor. Room had queen bed, mini kitchen fully stocked with plates, glassses, etc plus a nice living room with pull out sofa. Staff friendly and helpful; rooms clean.

Unbeatable location for the price.
The hotel was right in the middle of all the action. The hotel itsself was basic with a nice kitchen in it. IT would have been nice if the sliding door opened all the way instead of having the screen nailed down. Newport itself was very relaxing

Great place for some R & R

The Black Pearl isn't fancy but the food is the best! The clam chowder & lobster cannot be beat.
