It was ok

I was in a nonsmoking room, but it smelled like smoke. The floors looked like they hadn't been vacuumed in awhile. Other than that it was great.

Weekend get away

Our weekend stay was what we were expecting. A nice place to sleep. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The location was near all the amenities. The only problem, which was no one's fault but Tom Bodett's, also it was quite funny, We put in a wake up call request for 7:00 am. The phone rang, Tom said that it was my 7:00 am. wake up call. The only thing was that when I went down to the lobby to check the time, (the clocks were turned back that night) it was only one o'clock in the morning. Everything was entered correctly, we figured that turning back the clock had to effect the program. The desk attendant apologized, and we had a good laugh. I will use them in the future.

Good Value for the Money

This Motel 6 is listed as being in Newport, RI. Technically it is but is better described as very near Newport. The room was clean and the staff friendly. Towels were small and scratchy. Although the second floor was listed as non-smoking the floor smelled of smoke as did the lobby. If you are looking for a room with a bed, toilet and television near Newport and don't want to spend much money this is your choice.

In town for a race

This was a standard Motel 6- I thought the staff were really friendly. The location is a little weird, definitely not within walking distance of anything but not a far driving distance from the best parts of town.

great weekend

having been fortunate enough to travel for pleasure to many places, Newport is now my favorite city in the USA. Although I wasn't at the hotel much other than sleeping, it served our purposes. Place was clean, desk people were pleasant. What more could you ask for.

Money-saving tip: Not Applicable

Not the center of town, but if you don't want to spend $300 a night, this is a great place to stay. Clean, walking distance to Walmart, Dunkin Donuts.

OK, but some issues

We showed up at 3:30 pm (AFTER the posted Check-in time) and our room was not ready, which was annoying. When we checked in later, we found the room to be clean and comfortable. A fine night's stay, especially for the price. Coffee was provided in the lobby at 5:30, but no hot water for tea, or any sort of breakfast provided - however there's a Dunkin Donuts basically across the street. Commute into Newport for the day was quick and easy, as we had hoped. All-in-all this hotel was worth the price. A few issues but overall just fine.

Moving Son to College

My family needed a place to stay over the Labor Day weekend while we waited for my son's apartment for college to be made available. This was the perfect place for us since it is very close to downtown Newport. The room was big with two queen size beds. The staff was more than accommodating and helped us with getting around town. There were also many stores and food establishments within walking distance. We would stay there again!

Adequate hotel for an Adequate price

Since it was Labor Day weekend in Newport, we could only afford Motel 6, which was 1/3 the cost of other hotels in town. It's still expensive, given the lack of amenities. Soap and thin towels were all that were supplied. No shampoo, hair dryer, iron etc. I've never stayed in a Motel 6 before, it's definitely paired down in comparison. It was fairly clean, but the shower curtain and toilet could have been cleaned better. Unfortunately, non-smoking seems to only be a suggestion. The room had a stale odor to it. You get what you pay for.

Basic four walls and a bed. Clean and secure. Stayed here in the past and it appears they now are paying attention to maintenance issues. If you are looking for basic accommodations without frills this us a good fit.

Fort Adams is a short drive away. Guided tour is one of the best harbor fortification tours I've seen. Great harbor views and a nice picnic spot.
