nice stay

Went for a few days for a girls getaway at the spa. The beds were clean and comfortable. The rooms were small, but nice. Door to bathroom was a sliding door and it left about an inch of space in the door jam so there was a bit of a lack of privacy. The indoor pool was small and kind of ugly. The outside grounds were nice but the weather wasn't good so we couldn't take advantage of it. The restaurant was expensive, we only had breakfast there. The drinks at the bar were really expensive and not worth the price. The free shuttle into town is great! I would stay again in the summer.

The twenty dollar water bottles

Although the facility is lovely and offers wonderful views of Narragansett Bay and the Newport Bridge, one does get the sense of being nickeled and dimed. For example, though there is virtually no competition for parking and they have their own garage, they charge for parking. The arcade for the kids was a bit of a disappointment, with machines that took tokens but did not work (and avoid the claw machine even more than you usually would). The pool is quite small. Probably most grievous is the $20 "resort fee" that includes in its generous perks two bottles of water that are replenished daily (Wow! Two! Daily!), as well as a van downtown and very sluggish internet. The fee does not show up when you book the hotel, and I can't imagine getting your money's worth for it, no matter how long you spend attempting to check your email whilst downing a bottle of Aquafina. To their credit, it must be said that their front door staff was excellent - kind, patient, and solicitous, which was much appreciated as I was traveling with a disabled person and we needed special compensation. Many thanks to them; in fact, why not give THEM the $20 and keep the water!

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

In the past, there has been a summer water taxi that runs from Newport Harbor to Goat Island - much more fun than taking a van (though of course, it won't help you use up that $20 resort fee!).

everything was great except for the $20 per day fee

The hotel was great , its location is beautiful. I didn't like the fact that they charge $20 per day fee , I felt it was a repoff. Room was clean , but the next day makeover wasn't that perfect.

Overnight after Xmas stay for 3 adults

Very friendly staff, comfy beds, but the noise was annoying, don't know which was worse, the sneezy snoring man next door, or the parents with 2 whining young kids they couldn't get to bed till 11 inthe other side, the rooms are adjoining which is convenient if you need but apparently they forgot soundproof! Very slow to respond to request to bring up extra towels and cups, although we had reservation for 3 the room was equipped for only 2, when staff arrived after a second phone call and 45 minutes later, he was holding the glasses bowling ball style with his fingers....gross! The restaurant on site was good, if we needed, the shuttle would be convenient, it runs till midnight, I think we just had back luck of 2 noisy neighbors. Also, rooms were tiny and cramped but and comfy beds.

weekend getaway

Location was amazing. The bed was very uncomfortable. Woke up each morning to back pain. The staff was very nice especially the shuttle drivers. The cleaning lacked. On our first night my husband found empty water bottles under the bed while looking for a plug. After coming back to our room after a night out we found old coffee cups still sitting on the desk and the water glasses hadn't been changed out. All minor issues but still should of been taken care of.

Great Holiday location

Goat Island and quick access to downtown and harbor create a wonderful seeting for a weekend away. The hotel staff was welcoming and attentive, including the Bell Staff and restaurant. The rooms are a little small and a challenge to navigate with two people. There was a problem with Direct TV so many channels were not available during our stay [I missed several football games that were important too me. We will stay there again on future trips.
