New Years in Newport

Would recommend Wed, May 6, 2015
My husband and I wanted to spend New Years Eve in Newport and retire to the hotel to watch the fireworks. We walked all around Newport, had dinner at the Black Pearl and when we were ready we went back to the hotel to enjoy drinks and wait for the fireworks. The room was gorgeous and had a wonderful view of the bridge. The room was also very clean and the staff was very helpful. We would definitely stay again!

Great Location and Views

Would recommend Fri, Dec 5, 2014
We went in winter and got a great deal. It was the perfect location being on Goat Island and close to the heart of Newport. Room was clean and nice. Bathroom was good but not great. TV service is mediocre. Great View. The Staff and Lobby area could use a little sprucing up. Has good parking.

The views from the resort are exquisite. There are several outside locations where you can eat, drink or just relax and take in the view. The only drawback is the distance from downtown Newport, however, they have that covered as they run a shuttle service every 1/2 hour to and from Bowen Wharf. So it's actually peaceful away from the crowds but they activity is close enough to walk to or shuttle to. We really enjoyed our short stay and hope to get back for a longer one in the Fall.

nice stay

Would recommend Sat, Apr 19, 2014
Went for a few days for a girls getaway at the spa. The beds were clean and comfortable. The rooms were small, but nice. Door to bathroom was a sliding door and it left about an inch of space in the door jam so there was a bit of a lack of privacy. The indoor pool was small and kind of ugly. The outside grounds were nice but the weather wasn't good so we couldn't take advantage of it. The restaurant was expensive, we only had breakfast there. The drinks at the bar were really expensive and not worth the price. The free shuttle into town is great! I would stay again in the summer.

The twenty dollar water bottles

Would not recommend Wed, Feb 19, 2014
Although the facility is lovely and offers wonderful views of Narragansett Bay and the Newport Bridge, one does get the sense of being nickeled and dimed. For example, though there is virtually no competition for parking and they have their own garage, they charge for parking. The arcade for the kids was a bit of a disappointment, with machines that took tokens but did not work (and avoid the claw machine even more than you usually would). The pool is quite small. Probably most grievous is the $20 "resort fee" that includes in its generous perks two bottles of water that are replenished daily (Wow! Two! Daily!), as well as a van downtown and very sluggish internet. The fee does not show up when you book the hotel, and I can't imagine getting your money's worth for it, no matter how long you spend attempting to check your email whilst downing a bottle of Aquafina. To their credit, it must be said that their front door staff was excellent - kind, patient, and solicitous, which was much appreciated as I was traveling with a disabled person and we needed special compensation. Many thanks to them; in fact, why not give THEM the $20 and keep the water!

In the past, there has been a summer water taxi that runs from Newport Harbor to Goat Island - much more fun than taking a van (though of course, it won't help you use up that $20 resort fee!).
