Affordable, full-service Newport hotel with free Wi-Fi and outdoor pool
The Best Western the Mainstay Inn has a prime location just one mile from historic downtown Newport and is a quick jaunt to area attractions like the Cliff Walk, Newport Grand Casino, Naval War College and Gilded Age mansions. The inn features an on-site restaurant for American fare and a cocktail lounge with a big screen TV. The Best Western the Mainstay Inn also boasts an outdoor pool, fitness room and banquet facilities. Guests enjoy free Wi-Fi, cable TV and free bath products. Great accomodations...skip restaurant
Best Western The Mainstay Inn was a great buy for the money. Comfortable beds, clean, and very convenient to Center of Newport. Only negative I found was in the hotel restaurant. Because of bad weather our first night we decided to eat in the hotel. Their specials menu was only $9.95 for 2 course dinner, who could resist!. I ordered hazelnut crusted salmon and I received a piece of cardboard, with not a nut to be found. My husband had the prime rib and although it was tasty, by the time all the fat and grizzle was cut off there was barely enough meat left to be considered dinner. Fortunately we ordered a fried calamari appetizer which was quite good. I would recommend this hotel, but eat elsewhere.

the hotel in newport RI. was fine except for the fact that there was running water heard whenever anyone in adjoining rooms or rooms above us ran the toilet or showeror sink. It was very noisy when that occurred and the noise went on for a very long time.

overall great deal!
My wife and I had done the low price range hotels before, but imagine our suprise when we walked into a brand new room with a living room section and a bedroom section! Plus, it had a full restaurant and bar that was very good and very moderately priced in the lobby! The neighborhood isn't bad, but know that you're going to an offramp hotel. There's even a view of the bridge depending on what side your on! Very good deal. Recommended.

The mansions are a short jump from the hotel, and the old downtown is also very close (maybe 5 minutes in the car). Oh, and if you like gambling the slots place is directly across the street.

Great place in expensive city
The Best Western Newport was very comfortable. It is located across the street from the casino. Taxi service was great and we were less than 5 minutes from downtown Newport, where its $100+ to stay. Great place. VERY CLEAN!

I don't even know if they had a pool. I just used it for sleeping 2 nights for business. The room had more than I needed, but the space was nice.

Close to Newport Harbor without breaking the bank
Clean and comfortable for half the price of the downtown hotels and guest houses. Outdoor pool and restaurant in the hotel. Free parking and about a mile and 1/2 from all the sites.
