convenient and affordable
Bed was comfortable, location was close to where I needed to be and the price was reasonable. There was a restaurant in the building so I was able to have breakfast before starting my day.

The maid service was excellent. The room is what you expect for this price and the location is fine, just a few minutes drive to down town.

Did not stay
We did not stay at this hotel because when we got there , we found out that there was continental breakfast and the hotel resturant was going to cost too much for a breakfast. The room did not have a refridgerator and the bed was not compfortable. Plus the room was on the small size for a room with two double beds. Felt cramped. We changed hotels and had a better stay in the Newport area.

Beyond Dissatisfied
The hotel was nothing like its description, the staff was very rude and deceitful. We went for my sisters bachelorette weekend and I booked TWO rooms. When we got there one of the rooms was disgusting and so the five of us stayed in one room. They said I needed to pay for the extra people in the room. I said I would pay for one of the two which the manager agreed to. He then took a sale & AN AUTHORIZATION on my Credit Card charging me the full amount, thus lying to me FACE. DO NOT STAY HERE EVER!!!

Best/Western Mainstay Inn, Newport RI
Clean and comfortable, but not cared for as well as it could be. (Common doors hung up or didn't close correctly.) Quiet. Ordinary restaurant. Isolated. Must drive everywhere.

The Hotel was clean and the room was comfortable. The restaurant has good food, however, we found the breakfast to be rather expensive.

Nice hotel
The hotel itself was very nice and clean. It was located just outside of the main town but very easy to get to. The only surprise was there was no continental breakfast. I thought that was a standard that even the cheapest motels would have.

short drive to beach or downtown
went to the beach and downtown to go out for a bachellorette. The only issue was the availability of cabs. If there was a shuttle for going out to the bars downtown it would have been perfect! We had a great trip.

Stay at a cute Inn instead!
my bf and i waited to the last minute to book a hotel in newport over the summer, which was lack of planning on our part. we had no idea that most of the hotels/inns would be booked or over $400/nt.... so we went with the best western instead of an inn or B&B because we have never stayed at a non-commercial hotel before. the best western was very old, rooms were average, and the location was about 2mi from downtown. 2mi sounds close, but it really wasn't since you had to pay for parking downtown and then were unable to walk to and from shops and bars. the best western was located across the street from the slots casino, which was a little shady. the only room that was left was a smoking room and let me tell you, it REEKED! upon checking in i had to sign a document saying that if anything was stolen in our room the hotel was in no way responsible. we then got to the room and there was a security rod in the sliding window. needless to say both of those things did not make us feel welcome or comfortable. if you just need a shower and a bed to sleep in stay here, but if you would like a little ambiance and a better location stay downtown at an inn or B&B! things to do: cliff walk, eat dinner at castlehill for a special occasion, and take a sunset boat cruise in the harbor (worth every penny). places to eat: the brick alley restaurant was really good.... everything on their menu was delicious and we went back multiple times. another local place was the gas lamp grille, also very good and the portions were HUGE. newport is a cute, fun town and we wish we had more time. but now that we know where to stay and play, we will be going back at some point!

Wonderful time!
The hotel was in a great location. Close to downtown and across from a casino. Room was avg. with a comfy bed. Restaurant attached was good and reasonably priced. We plan to stay here again upon our return trip.
