Affordable, full-service Newport hotel with free Wi-Fi and outdoor pool
The Best Western the Mainstay Inn has a prime location just one mile from historic downtown Newport and is a quick jaunt to area attractions like the Cliff Walk, Newport Grand Casino, Naval War College and Gilded Age mansions. The inn features an on-site restaurant for American fare and a cocktail lounge with a big screen TV. It was a place to sleep. Period.
The hotel is totally average. Location is kinda between things. Upkeep is a little behind. There are little steps and turns everywhere so I would not recommend for someone who cannot lift their luggage. The ice machine needed cheese clues to find in the maze of hallways. The room was clean and comfortable right until the hall length party started. The pounding security guard who kept coming back to yell long after the party was over was actually more annoying.

If you plan on patronizing one of the cute waterfront restaurants in the little historic downtown take the shuttle. There is absolutely NO parking anywhere.

great economic value
I had a great rate for 3 nights over the Easter weekend, and I was pleasantly surprised at check-in that the actual rates would be considerably lower. And there was nothing lacking in the accomodations. Overall, a great value.

convenient and affordable
Bed was comfortable, location was close to where I needed to be and the price was reasonable. There was a restaurant in the building so I was able to have breakfast before starting my day.

The maid service was excellent. The room is what you expect for this price and the location is fine, just a few minutes drive to down town.

We did not stay at this hotel because when we got there , we found out that there was continental breakfast and the hotel resturant was going to cost too much for a breakfast. The room did not have a refridgerator and the bed was not compfortable. Plus the room was on the small size for a room with two double beds. Felt cramped. We changed hotels and had a better stay in the Newport area.

Beyond Dissatisfied
The hotel was nothing like its description, the staff was very rude and deceitful. We went for my sisters bachelorette weekend and I booked TWO rooms. When we got there one of the rooms was disgusting and so the five of us stayed in one room. They said I needed to pay for the extra people in the room. I said I would pay for one of the two which the manager agreed to. He then took a sale & AN AUTHORIZATION on my Credit Card charging me the full amount, thus lying to me FACE. DO NOT STAY HERE EVER!!!

Best/Western Mainstay Inn, Newport RI
Clean and comfortable, but not cared for as well as it could be. (Common doors hung up or didn't close correctly.) Quiet. Ordinary restaurant. Isolated. Must drive everywhere.

Fun Visit to Newport RI
The Hotel was clean and the room was comfortable. The restaurant has good food, however, we found the breakfast to be rather expensive.
