Inexpensive, Quiet, and Clean
We stayed for a few days in the winter, and we're not even sure there was anybody else staying there! (Okay, there was probably another room or two booked). Rooms and bathrooms were clean and nice-looking. Front desk staff helpful.

Great place to stay!
This hotel was a lovely place to stay for a weekend getaway. Only 1.5 miles away from downtown Newport, and given that we were here in December, driving to downtown and parking wasn't an issue at all. Staff was great, room was clean, there was a new flatscreen TV in our room, and the fridge was great to have. The free continental breakfast was a notch above free breakfasts I've had elsewhere - Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwiches, yogurt, fruit, coffee cake, bagels, english muffins, cereal, hardboiled eggs, etc. - great way to start the day. There was also coffee and tea out around the clock, so it was great to come back to the hotel after a snowy day downtown and have a nice cup of tea before bed. My biggest qualm and the reason why I knocked a star off my rating was the free wi-fi. The woman who checked me in warned me it can be slow, but that was an understatement - it was unusable and kept timing out for simple-to-load sites. I rely on wi-fi access and this was a disappointment, but fortunately I have a smartphone and was able to take care of things via 3G. Overall, this place was a great, unique place to stay and I would absolutely stay here again.

Nice Hotel but Lacked Character
The Carriage House Inn was a nice hotel. The staff was extremely friendly, even shipping me a dress I left behind. The location was pretty good. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Unfortunately, I was disappointed because, from the description, I was expecting more character from the rooms. My room did not have a fireplace and when I asked about it I was told that none of the fireplaces work anyway. It was a nice hotel and a comfortable stay but the description of the rooms is misleading. It was a pretty standard hotel.

Great room! Great staff!
We only did an overnight to get away, but we'll be back! This is a wonderful hotel. Lots of character and charm and the staff is excellent!

Very convient to downtown newport and all it has! Hotel was clean and the staff was so friendly and suggested places to go, eat and gave us driving directions. They even found a phone charger for my husband to use who forgot his at home. Room was clean and comfortable

Good bed and AC
The bed was very comfortable and the air conditioning was strong, but the rooms are not authentic to the period, just rooms added onto an old building. The breaksfast was one of worst we have had.

The hotel is part of a chain that has a very good restaurant on the beach. They offer a 10% discount, sort of nice. It was very good.

Fair value. Location is reasonably close to Newport. Parking in Newport is scarce and/or expensive. Hotel's internet connection wasn't very good.

Short walk from hotel
If doing the mansion tour, see the Breakers first but then head to Bellvue...the Cliff walk takes too long and you lose interest in the house tours
